anyone here who listens to the postal service? :-D the vocalist is ben gibbard from death cab for cutie. he writes the songs and he collaborates with someone to make the electronica tracks. i think they're good.

Ngayon ko lang nabasa yung DCFC part. Haha, talaga? Di ko type DCFC pero astig yung Postal Service. Kung DSL lang ako dodownload ko lahat ng songs eh. Haha.

If u listen to DCFC's Transatlanticism you'll notice the subtle electronic-beats and programmed shuffles in the background, which makes thier indie pop/sad bastard melody more discernable and eclectic. It's like the more anthemic, sing-songy, teenage drama version of The Postal Service, only guitar-driven and less textured.
BTW if you like The Postal Service, you'll also like Air's Moon Safari.

Minus the major label exposure and The OC - Death Cab for cutie's good, musicwise and lyricwise.

dntel got so much better with their recent album, theyve grown alot , sonically. its good that these individuals can actually step out of the postal service persona when theyre doing their own thing.

maganda nga talaga yung beat, sabi nga sa isang music website, "they making it okay for indie kids to get down." hahahaha. yeah! kasi dati medyo reluctant ako sa electronica except for the select few na kanta nina bjork en beck., yung trip hop, mana pa.,

I love The Postal Service. Their first (and only?) album is great. I'm not really into indie-pop and electronica but I love pop songs with subtle electronic flourishes. :-)
Someone mentioned AIR. Another great group. Couldn't live without them. :wink:

Galing ng Air. "Ce matin-là" may very well be the best piece of music I've ever heard. Napakinggan ko na yung OST and I loved it (also the film.) I can hear ELO, Pink Floyd, and Ennio Morricone sa music nila. It's right up my alley.
I have yet to hear the new album. :-)

Halos lahat ng cuts gusto ko. Parang darker version ng "Moon Safari." Ang galing! Parang "Dark Side Of The Moon" of the 90s. Dig? :-)

he uses lines which makes you realize unusual things and makes you agree to him.

Wala pang second album kasi busy ngayon ang Death Cab. Kalalabas lang ng bago nilang plaka tsaka nagto-tour sila. Malamang na ang tour nila hanggang pagtapos ng taon.

you should also check out tamborello's other projects, eg Figurine/James Figurine. its like my space holiday with black mascara stains. great computer musician.
dntel is amazing, tho i personally like his "harder" tracks to his newer, poppier stuff off of dumb luck

death cab for cutie is sheer genuis too.chris walla -their guitarist and producer extraordinaire- creates magic that can match every mood of gibbard's lyrics.
trivia: a former actress -jenny lewis of the indie-country-alternative band Rilo Kiley was the back up vocals on all the tracks of Give Up and she sang Vocals on Nothing Better.

yung dntel, may album na narelease last year. dumb luck yung title. daming guest vocalists, mostly indie rockers- conor oberst, yung guy sa grizzly bear, etc etc etc
but his best work as dntel IMO is life is full of possibilities. galeng ng last song tsaka ng this is the dream of chan and evan!

nagsara pa yung tower records... i think yung pinaka decently stocked record store in manila ay yung sa top floor ng fully booked high street na. i'm not sure pero parang may nakita akong give up dun. if not, at least may small selection sila of electronic music with some things na hindi mo makikita elsewhere sa metro.
other than that, yung HMV sa sg or hk or macau na yung closest na may ok na record store. o kaya online na lang...

Wow. Kung yung Fully Booked outlet sa High Street na ang pinaka-diverse sa music selection, marami talagang mahusay na musikero tsaka matinong music ang hindi nae-expose sa Pilipinas. Ilang shelves lang talaga ang stock nila, tapos kulang pa sa archival titles ang inventory sa tingin ko. May pakiramdam pa akong malamang paliliitin nila ang roster nila ngayong mas tipo ng karaniwang nakikinig ng music na mag-download na lang (that would be another rant for another thread :wink:).

i like the song "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight", lalo na pag wasak na wasak na ko.. para kong lumilipad tapos malakas pa yung hangin sa balcony namin.. grabe.. ang sarap ng feeling.. this song will really bring you to heaven..
If you like postal service, i know you'll like Owl City even more.. panalo dn 'to!!! lilipad ka rin.. eheh.. :-D
