get both bro. Use one as distortion and the other for boosting. tweak mo lang dude. try patch cable that are .155. make it as short as possible narin. hope this helps. enjoy. peace.

Get the DS1 with Keeley ultra mod from Markflo...
MXR's pedals are overrated.. IMHO lang ha.

i think Boss brand is the most overrated. since kahit sino yata naka Boss. i dunno, just don't mind me.

Tried both.

If you lean on towards classic distortion (think Appetite for Destruction), then the DS1 is the way to go. MXR, on the other hand feels like an overdrive for me. Just a bit of "breakup", very good for soloing.

As suggested above, get em both. Use DS1 for rhythm, then add the MXR as a boost for solos.

If you have a good amp, the MXR is best for soloing. Use the amp's gain channel as distortion and MXR again for boost.

If you're on a tight budget, I suggest get the DS1 since it has a wider range of tones.

Both pedals are excellent, it's just a matter of how are you gonna use it.

actually lahat ng nagsimula mag guitar, usually ang first effects is a boss..not because its overrated, its because its cheap and accesible... mxr's are much more expensive than boss peds...sa tingin ko naman kayang tapatan ng boss ang effects ng mxr's..although mxr's have really big name artists promoting them: zakk, yngwie, EVH to name a few...

just an info: PU's ko are sdJAZZ and sdJB (also m using wide range humbucks) on classic30

hmm...i guess i have to test mxr nalang sa store. may clip kc ako narinig sa dunlop site pero nababagabag ako sa pagka record,hindi ko maisip kung sadyang raw nila nirecord para transparent o masama pagkarecrd may hiisss kc:) [wala pa nakalagay sa setting]
i own a sansamp classic ok naman para sakin.pero may hinahanap pako distortion/tone. para bang safe ang tunog nya:) mukhang kelangan nya ng pang boost lalo pag mag lilead?
bumili ako ds1 kc mura at wala pako makita mxr nun, ok naman ds1 stock with eq..naninipisan kc ako pag wala eq:)
may narinig ako moded version na ds1 maganda tunog! pero sakin lang mas ok kung meron sya switch na magiging nasa gitna ng stock at nung narinig ko na modded ang gusto ko:)

yung kay keeley na ds1 gusto ko rin marinig!!! kaso wala ata dito sa pinas nun:(

minsan kc maarte ata tenga natin at di makontento...lyk pag nakikinig ka ng music sa component o kung ano man...misan may gusto ka pa setting na maganda pa.

haay...hirap lalo na pag wala pera!

Basically ang kelangan co lang naman ay MXR Micro Amp. Tried eBaying it but most of 'em don't ship here sa 'tin. And I'm having thoughts on getting the Jim Dunlop reissue of it kasi plastic na yung switch nya. Not like the older ones na bakal ang switch. So may nakita ba kayong Micro Amp anywhere here?

i like the tones of jeff buckley, also lyk tool's sound, hendrix, page's also.
blind melon too..(hehe) sometimes lang pero wont be lyfetime meshuggah type sounds:)

pre kunin mo yung MXR Distortion+ ayos talaga yun.. meron din akong DS-1, lupit din ng tunog pero medyo nagiging muddy nang konti pagdating sa soloing. yung Distortion+ clear pa rin ang notes kahit full-shred na mga linya mo. on its own, it sounds a bit like a fuzz pedal with more balls pero pag nilagyan mo na ng ibang OD, ganda ng labas. setup ko ngayon TS808 then Distortion+ and i'm more than happy with my sound. but if you have the dough, get both.. more stompboxes, more possibilities
