Hi everyone. I'm glad that this thread has been resurrected since the old 6UG in Makati abruptly closed. The whole building was sold to our country's richest magnate and every establishment operating therein was "bought" to move out. We had no choice but to look for a new place, leaving the venue where the old Kalye and the rock cultist 6Underground once flourished.
Since then, 6Underground had a live compilation album under Warner Music and nostalgic gig nights in our other friendly bars. But of course, there is no replacing the 6UG that we once knew that supported unrestricted underground music throughout its tenure.
Thank God, we are very glad to be back and relocated ourselves in the city where most music companies, radio stations, and call centers proliferate: Ortigas Center!
Being back means we had to outdo what we had accomplished in the old 6UG and present new features on the underground music table. If you have visited the new place, this is entirely different from the one in Makati. Where 6UG Makati was goth, this new one has a light alternative interior. The stage is placed in the middle of the bar, allowing people to encircle the band while performing. In lieu of our old big narra tables, we replaced them with japanese inspired small tablets, pillows and cushions, for a "chill" atmosphere. Basta, you have got to visit the new place to appreciate it.
Now called 6UG Live & Raw (as a homage to our live album), we continue to champion original local alternative music through band performances. As such, only 3 bands will perform in a night, giving a full set each of their original music. As a launch, bands Rivermaya, Typecast, and Urbandub have already graced our stage and filled the venue. I hope your band follows suit.
