di ko alam kung may threead na about fun run's enthusiasts and philmusic runners.
anyways..

Recently lang ako nahumaling sa ganitong sport, and currently training myself for some larger, longer, exciting fun run events for the next months/ years and hopefully decades to come.

Nag eenjoy ako at naalis yung stress ko galing sa work, plus pumapayat ako!! hehehe



Any guys here that is also in to this king of activities?


BTW sumali na ko sa RUNRIO leg 3 at kaRUNungan 2010 for november.

di talaga ako runner pero pag cardio lang ako mahiliog ako tumakbo. tingin ko nakaka takbo ako minsan 5-7k. may sinalhan ako fun run last week sana pero di ko na sinipot kulang kasi tulog baka himatayin pa ako sa pagtakbo. hehe

am happy for our nation that somehow...running and marathons is creeping its way to become a fad.

am not a runner/athlete per se...but I love running.  and I started last Dec 25 morn...hahaha!

i did 6.6K that Christmas morn, then 11K New Year morn, then 10K, etc...

Health is really wealth.  Gotta watch those knees though....

nag start ako November last year. ginagawa ko ito para i-prepare ang katawan ko for this year dahil nga may plan ako ng solo trekking/hiking. Quirino Grandstand yung usual place na iniikutan ko. bakit? kasi enjoy yung tumatakbo ka na, maganda pa ang view. minsan palipat lipat, Grandstand-Baywalk-PICC.

yung mga unang takbo ko two hours na combination ng brisk walking at running. after stretching, walk muna for warm up. tapos takbo na. takbo lang hanggang kaya, hanggang walang sumasakit. tapos pag hingal, brisk walk. tapos takbo.

ngayon, bawas yosi. malaki ang naitulong sakin dahil kumokonti yung time na nahihingal ako pagtakbo. tsaka limited na lang ng 1 hour yung takbo ko. paghubad ko ng shirt, woo grabe pawis pag piniga hahaha

nga pala, sa mga gustong tumakbo, wag na wag pong kalimutan mag STRETCHING BEFORE and AFTER running.

ako naman around October 2010 nagstart tumakbo. Nag shed na ko ng 20plus lbs at back to wearing medium sized shirts!. hehe


I suggest na sali kayo ng mga competition at least once a month para dagdag motivation na rin sa pagiging healthy natin!hehe

@sir toybits: galing nyo nagstart kayo Dec lang tapos nakakapag 11k na kayo. hehe pero sir watch out for the knees nga kasi baka di pa sanay muscles nyo to run longer distances. Naalala ko Dec 26 ata yun, sinubukan ko takbuhin 22km para ma-gauge kung kaya ko na tumakbo ng half marathon. Natapos ko naman pero nagdevelop na ng slight injury yung right knee ko dahil na rin di pa prepared yung knee ko sa longer distances. hehe Naka knee support na tuloy ako pag tumatakbo since then.

@ sir marzi: maganda nga kung yung tinatakbuhan mo eh maganda yung view. Pag sa oval kasi or threaadmill nakakasawa kasi paulit ulit. For me mas mabilis ako mapagod pag ganun. hehe

onga pala sa March may magandang race, organized by RUNRIO. Sulit to kaya sali tayo! hehe

heheh may stationary bike sa bahay, nanonood ako movie habang nagbi-bike..pag nasa labas, sight seeing tsaka masaya yung may mga nakikita kang tao na tumatakbo din. minsan may competition pa. pag may nakikita akong tao na medyo malayo sakin, try kong habulin. kahit matanda hinahabol ko hehehe..pero seryoso, nakaka inspire yung may mga kasabay ka na health conscious din.

nga pala, isa pang importanteng bagay sakin pag tumatakbo ay ang ipod. nakaka-ganang tumakbo pag puro pampa-hyper yung songs. halo ng metal, rock and some hip-hop/dance music yung ginawa kong playlist. lalo na pag nakakarinig ako ng Daft Punk songs, kahit rest na ko napapatakbo pa rin ako hehehe

Yeah bro. I can't stand doing cardio exercises without music or movie. Daym it's like... Time has been multiplied tenfolds!

Anyway, I don't run regularly. Pa-weather2x lang. And I noticed na sumasakit ang paa ko after running for some time. Any tips and suggestions?

kung medyo matagal ka na pahinga bro sasakit talaga yan pag biglang tinakbo tapos medyo malayo... tska...ang alam ko bro dapat heel una babagsak para mas less yung impact sa paa mo lalo na sa tuhod. nung ginawa ko to mas malayo natatakbo ko ng di pa agad sumasakit mga tuhod ko. :)

welcome bro. yun ang sabi sakin nung ibang tumatakbo talaga. isa pa daw you shouldn’t have to lift your knees up very high to jog. Only sprinters joggers going uphill need to lift their knees very  high... tapos kailangan daw diretso katawan di daw naka yuko para di masama sa katawan natin sa buto sa likod. sa pag hinga naman pag medyo naghahabol na ng hinga. di kailangan mabilis pag hinga.  bale kailangan controlin mo dahan dahan.. hinga malalim sa ilong tapos labas sa bibig.

Nakasabay ko tumakbo si Coach Rio minsan sa UP kasi madalas ako tumakbo dun. Grabe, parang kabayo! yung normal run niya parang kailangan ko pa mag-sprint para makasabay lang hehe  :evil:

nice thread.ive started running/mountain biking in between last 3 months ago,shred 30lbs,i got firmer muscles,better feel and have a good night sleep since started running/jogging..now,nag-iipon ako for my first real running shoes..could you recommend a good running shoes ?im eyeing nike airmax 2001 or the new nike free running shoes mura lang daw yun,havent see one though..  :-D

ok yan dalawa na yan pre komportable at masarap sa paa. ang problema lang hindi yan mag tatagal kung madalas ka talaga tumakbo at malayo tinatakbo. maupod agad yan lalo na yung air.  eto yung ibang ok sa nike.  sa new balance madami din matitibay dun at maganda/ di ko lang kabisado mga pangalan..

Basta any kind of sporting shoe,Nike ako all the way...  :-D Though maraming talagang ibang brands na mas maganda or recommened for running. I'm currently using 3 different Nike shoes, namely Nike Free TR, Nike Hyperfuse Max, tsaka Nike Lunar TR. I think these shoes are not that specifically designed for serious running except dun sa Nike Free ata. Pero ok na din ang gande kse eh...  :lol: Anyway, na-try ko na yung first 2 shoes and so far, mas naging ok ang performance ko dun sa Nike Free kse it's lighter tsaka sumusunod talaga yung sole niya sa contour ng feet mo especially when running kse malambot yung material niya. Yung Nike Lunar TR, hinde ko pa nagagamit pero I think it's lighter than Nike free. Check ko if I'll be able to perform better if I use this shoe.

Dun sa wala pa, if you guys want to monitor every run you do, lalo na kung gusto mong malaman kung nag-improve ka from your last run, have "sports-tracker" installed in your mobile phones instead of getting other devices that are used to track your running. Free to download naman siya from "http://www.sports-tracker.com/" kaso kung hinde WIFI capable yung phone nyo, mag-charge yung download time sa load nyo....  :-(  Tsaka hinde lang siya for running, pwede din walking, mountain bike and other sports activities. Basahin nyo na lang other details from the website tsaka after pala installing the application, make sure na always choose cancel when your phone is trying to connect online when you open the application. Parang yun kse yun default setting nung application eh pag i-nopen mo na. Very useful tool, tapos pwede nyo pang i-upload sa FB yung status nung takbo nyo,  8-).

A lot of Filipinos have joined the running lifestyle. Running events of different sizes and distances are being joined in by individuals who are eager to either break their best personal record or just sweat it out. people have already caught the running bug. Especially in the morning, a number of joggers and runners can be seen in the runner friendly streets. :D


running as a hobby its not just hobby but a healthy life style too. :D, share your experiences and give some tips. :D

sir try mo magpunta sa RUNNR(located at bonifacio high street in taguig) or Second wind(teachers village quezon city)
they offer free gait analysis system para matulungan kayo kung anong gait type kayo at mapili nyo yung appropriate shoes.

ako, i started running last october 2010 para maglose ng weight. 30lbs na rin na lose ko since....Then running turned into a sport. I enjoy running specially when crossing the finish line. iba talga yung feeling na may natatapos ka na pinaghirapan mo talaga! :-D

BTW, about the shoes, if you're into trail running,check out the NB minimus trail ang Merrell Trail Glove... minimalist shoes made for trail runs. ganda pa ng design

ps: Nike shoes doesn't work for me... madali sila masira para sakin...

yup, pwede to sa road sir. check out anton krupicka, ultramarathoner

i think this costs around 5k plus... it should be out here in PH this month...The merrell trail glove is already out though. Cheaper ata sya at around 4kplus.

if i remember correctly... 2 hours 45 mins ako, hehe. sakit ng cramps... buti na lang di ako napa CR. yung last run ko (night run) na 10K, sumama dyan ko kaya napa CR ako dun sa isang bar

sir take it gradually... based on my experience, hindi ako nakinig sa mga experienced runners at from 10k races, tumalon na ko ng 21k.... during training ko a month before the race, nagkaron ako ng knee pain, ayun di na nawala. kahit 5k nararamdaman ko na yung pain.

hilaw na hilaw pa ika nga. hehe sakit na to ng mga bago sa running sport (including me) dahil na rin siguro sa excitement.

basta wag tayo magmamadali at listen to your body whenever you want to join a race.. :)

ako ay tumigil tumakbo dahil natatamad ako.. :-D mas madalas akong maglakad pauwi galing trabaho, that's around 5k, almost everyday...though pag weekends tumatakbo ako depende sa mood - around 10k relaxed jog-briskwalk-run...pero sakto to naghahanap ako ng running shoes problema ko kasi sapatos kasi sneakers pinangtatakbo ko...i already know i have a bad knee but i still continue on using sneakers for running  :lol:

pero ngayon decided nakong bumili, unless may masabay nanaman na gastusin...hindi ko lang kasi din alam kung ano pipiliin ko... :|

one more thing, nangangati legs ko pag nagtagal nakong tumatakbo...hindi ko alam kung bakit, or kung ako lang ba nakakaranas nito..either yung mga buhok ko sa legs/paa ang nagpapakati or yung taba ng legs ko at pores ng skin ay nagrereact sa isa't-isa  :-D :-D

today, 4th day of my running habit sa plaza namin hehe. ginagawa ko stretching muna, then brist walk na isang ikot, tapos jog naman, alternate ginagawa ko hindi ko kaya na tuloy tuloy na jog eh, napapagod ako hehe. ayoko ipush sa limits katawan ko baka mapano pa ko, so I take it slowly sa pagtrain sa sarili ko kanina naka 7 na ikot ako sa plaza, i think isang ikot sa plaza namin is around 1k na hehe. Lagi meron running events dito, siguro pag ready na ko at katawan ko sasali na ko hehe.  :-D

ang masama sakin yung advan pa ang gamit ko... :lol:  nung una kong ginawa yun sumakit talaga yung paa ko...yung upper part pa ng paa ko kung saan lumalabas yung mga malalaking veins..  :|

ang masama sakin yung advan pa ang gamit ko... :lol:  nung una kong ginawa yun sumakit talaga yung paa ko...yung upper part pa ng paa ko kung saan lumalabas yung mga malalaking veins..  :|

di naman sir sakto lang haha. dati mahilig talaga ako takbo pero hangang 5-8k lang lagi.. na adik kasi ako sa martial arts tapos buhat kaya medyo nawala yung takbo ko. ngayon medyo binabalik ko ulit yung pagka hilig sa takbo. pag maka 21k ako masaya na ako hahaha.

ako sir hindi na ako nag stretching konting knee rotation at squats lang pagkatpos ng brisk walk bago tumakbo. baliktad sakin sir ang stretching ko pagkatapos tumakbo hahaha. para kasi goma yan mga joints dapat pa initin muna bago unatin.. sakin lang naman yun :) hehe...

ako naman sa kalagitnaan...pag nararamdaman ko na yung stress sa muscles dun ako magsstretch ng legs...ang warm-up ko e walking din pero puro pataas kasi agad dito samin e so iinit ka na agad..tapos stretch konti bago yung pinakatakbo...paguwi sit-ups saka push-ups konti tapos pahinga...

pero may effect ata talaga yung high altitude...kasi diba si pacquiao bago magUS training, yung primer nya sa high-altitude training e dito sa baguio..

Oo nga eh, first time kong tumakbo kanina sa malamig na weather eh. Ang bilis kong mapagod sobra.

Anyways, bibili ako ng first running shoes, baka ito una kong bilin.

isang beses pa lang ako nakasali sa fun run. 5K lang, ~39 minutes sa bonifacio high street. olats wala sa kundisyon e. tapos basketball shoes pa ginamit ko instead na running shoes. 3 araw sumakit yung binti ko tsaka ankles :D

kaka miss tumakbo.isang linggo na yung knee inhury ko.before that minimum 10km everyday tinatakbo ko.ang laki ng pagbabago ng katawan ko.1 month lang trimmed down na ako,kaso yun nga knee injuries suck.i need to learn to swim.




10k minimum everyday bro?saan mo nakuha knee injury mo?ako if i run that long that day,by tomorrow it will be a rest time for my body muscles to repair itself naman para hindi ma-damage ang muscles tissues or have any serious injury if you don't..im not saying na don't push yourself to your limit because thats what we like most knowing what we can prove to ourself and knowing how far we can go,but try to listen to your body first..  :-D

yes, more kasi ang up oval ay 2.2km.i do 5 rounds, so about 11km, plus i run all the way from my house in up bliss philcoa which is another km i think.thats daily.kasi kaya e, but the thing is ewan ko, bumigay tuhod ko.it wasnt acl though sabi ng brod ko na doc, but it definitely got me thinking na dapat alternate at dapat may isa pa ako form ng exercise.in comes swimming, which, although i know the basics, id have to master para makuha ko yung same cardio im getting from running.yup baka bike na din para triathlete.pero swim muna.good thing we started a swimming school as a business.

bro, pwede mo gawing yung ibang days na 10k running, do 30mins or 5k tempo runs instead. :)

and about sa injury mo, posible na lumabas yan dahil sa kulang sa rest. remember na mas mabilis magcope ang lungs natin kesa sa muscles during training. kaya mapapansin nyo sa training, kaya pa ng baga nyo pero hirap na yung knees at legs.
try mo na instead na 10k araw araw,
monday 5k + strength
tuesday 30-45mintempo run
wednesday 5k +strength
thursday 30-45min hills (i suggest punta ka sa heartbreak hill sa up then do hill repeats instead, i think luna yung name ng street. hehe)
friday restday
saturday 5k run (relaxed pace)
sunday 1:30 to 2:00 hours or slow run or what we call "long slow distance" (lsd)

siguro in 3-5months time you'd be joining 16k to 21k :) but listen to you body first kung kaya na talaga ha

sige pwede matry ngang tumakbo kahit umuulan..pero mas prone bumaho yung paa dahil pawis at init tapos basa ng ulan yung sapatos...tapos mas prone pa ata magkasakit kasi pawis at init sa katawan tapos mababasa ng ulan lalo pag ambon lang...
 sino na ba naka-try ng ganun dito yung tumatakbo kahit umuulan?

nakita nyo ba yung mga naka display sa tobys na Newton shoes?

grabe, pangit ng designs pero ang mamahal!

mukang science based yung pagkakagawa.pero kung titignan mo parang ordinary running shoes lang.

parang transitional shoes ata yun from heel striking to mid/forefoot striking kya kung mapapansin mo yung ilalim, may 3 or 4 na nakaumbok na rubber.
though for me ok yung design, hindi masyado fancy. hehe kaso yung price nga ang di ko nagustuhan, pero yung concept nya ang nagpamahal actually. almost the same price with asics gel kayano. nasa 7k yun.

ako din 1 month straight na ulit, dati ko pa nakasanayan ang pag-takbo kada umaga. basta di ako pagod the night before lalarga ako ng maaga. natigil lang nung madalas maaga pasok ko sa college. pero ngayon naibalik ko na, lalo na kailangan ko magbawas ng timbang, after a month siguro sasabayan ko na ulit ng gym kada hapon.

I've been running around 13 years na rin. I tried to run all of the categories except 42km and short distances below 10km. Nagsimula talaga ako 10 km na and goal ko lagi na mapababa ko ang oras ko. Last run ko is last Milo national finals (Dec 2010 and my official time on 10k is 39mins). Sa 21km naman, last na takbo ko is Milo national finals (Dec 2009) and I clocked in 1hour and 55minutes.

I don't want to be a [sausage] here pero sadly, ginawa nang negosyo ng ilan ang sport na ito. Pero okay lang naman yung iba, beneficial run naman. Kaya ako, dun ako sa mura sumasali eh (Milo, Manila Marathon and QC). Para kasing magbabayad ka ng mahal tapos mapapagod ka lang.. ako ang ginagawa ko, nakikitakbo na lang ako sa mga running events with my friends ( who registered). Parang practice na lang.. iwas gastos lang.. hehe   :wink:

This year, I planned to run 42 km pero nainjured ako during practice kaya hindi natuloy. Sayang ang preparation at buti inde pa ako nagpaparegister. Ganun talaga. Buti na lang may alternatives pa ako nung gumaling ako. Nagcocompete din ako sa amateur Muay Thai kaya wala ring tigil sa training. Basta masarap mag-exercise.  :wave:

and always start with minor stretching and some warmups kahit 5 mins lang.

been running for a couple of years now, but last year was when i did monitor my runs.

i don't join events so takbo lang sa park. 3x a week. an 8km run, then interval training for 5km, then finish the week with a 12km run. hirap lang pag nagkakaron ng shin splints so kelangan magrecover.

i used to get shin splints nung malayo na ulit natatakbo ko. nagpalit ako ng sapatos aun umayos na.

if nararamdaman mo yan importante magstretching ka before and after. then pagkatapos cold compress ang kelangan bro.

mga boss, may alam ba kayong fun run this february? gusto ko kasing magtry. tagal ko na gusto magjoin. sa katunayan, last year nakapagregister na ako sa Run United kaso hindi ko natuloy. kasi ako lang magisa. ayun. nga pala, yung 3k lang mga boss. yun pa lang kaya ko eh. salamat!  :)

Hi there. Kaka-start ko palang mag-run last week. T-Th-S-Sun ang sched ko. Dun ako sa loob ng NCMH (Mental, oo dun nga) nagja-jog. Sobrang sarap dun kasi walang pollution eh. Lalo na mga 5am ka start. Dala ka lang ng jacket kasi kung hindi, hindi ka papawisan sa lamig, hehehe. Last Saturday yung pinaka-malayo ko. From Mental to Greenhills and back. Nakaka-addict tong pag-jog. Although sabi ng Nephrologist ko (since dialysis patient ako) kailangan ko daw ng clearance galing sa Cardiologist ko and kailangan ko daw bumili ng heart rate monitor.

Anyways, may alam ba kayo kung saan makakabili nung heart rate monitor? Yung mura pero accurate sana. Meron akong nakita kaya ang mamahal naman. Try ko din siguro sa Sulit.

parang mahirap yan dude.kasi nag pa palpitate ka ata pag naka ganyan.tas pag takbo syempre pumped up ka din so ma do doble.any thoughts>kung may mga duktor dito.i suggesst do it slowly, di naman kailangan payat  agad, dapat fit.wag mag short cut.

Masarap tumakbo sa loob ng compound ng Mental. Mga 5:30am to 7am. Ang lamig. Walang pollution. 'Wag lang i-inhale masyado at baka maka-langhap ng masamang hangin, hehehe.

Nag-stop ako mag-jog ng 1 month dahil na-operahan ako :(

Hintay ko pa yun official race result, pero sa phone ko, 1hr 25mins ang time ko. A bit slow. :)

I'm 5'6" 220 lbs. Running for 2 weeks now but I checked sa map na 1.2K lang yung natatakbo ko yung failure na yung muscle tapos lakad na. Normal lang ba yung di ka muna aabot ng mga 5k? Pero I always try to beat my record naman.

Ok lang yun I guess. When I first started, halos ganyan lang din natatakbo. But now, nakakapag-10k na din ako. Hindi ko naman balak sumali sa mga marathon but I also motivate myself by beating my previous record. Dahil sa hypertensive ako (dialysis patient kasi ako), kailangan ko heart rate monitor. So far, masaya ako sa results. I'm 5'7" and I used to weigh 74.5kgs (163.9lbs) 25.7BMI. Ngayon nasa 69.5kgs (152.9lbs) nako. Normal BMI (23.9) for my height. And napansin ko, nung nagstart nako mag-jog, mas gising yung katawan ko and hindi na ako sluggish kumilos. Plus, na-correct yung pag-tayo ko. Dati kasi parang kuba ako maglakad.

February this year ako nag-start. Nagstop ako for a month kasi na-operahan ako. So, may 5 months na ako tumatakbo. By 3-4 months nakakapag-5k nako. Lately ko lang sinubukan may 10k, siguro 3 weeks na. Yes, ingatan mo din kasi baka bumigay naman ang knees & ankles mo. May friend ako nasa 230lbs sya, sabi nung doctor nya mag-loose muna sya ng 30lbs kasi baka nga bumigay knees & ankles nya. So, nag-bike muna sya. Nung na-reach na nya yung desired weight nya, ayun pinayagan na mag-jog.

May kasama kasi ako na nagtra-triathlon. Nurse din sya at the same time kasi nga sa condition ko, hindi pwedeng basta takbo lang ng takbo. Kailangan talaga i-monitor heart rate ko baka bigla nalang ako bumulagta sa kalsada, hehehe.

Yung friend ko din nagturo sakin nung sa New Balance. Depende kasi kung anong klase ng feet meron ka. Doon iba-base yung kailangan mong shoes. Yung sakin ata pang neutral, hindi ko na maalala kung ano-ano pa yung iba eh. Meron yung kung flat flooted, may arc/bridge yung paa mo, etc. Sa Planet Sports sa Greenhills ko binili yung sakin, oks dun kasi marunong yung mga nagbebenta aalamin talaga nila yung right shoe for you and madalas naka-sale dun. 6k+ sya, nabili ko lang ng 3k+.

way back before I started running (february of this year) eh I weight 220lbs (my height is 5'9).. sa BMI ko during our APE nung march eh "Obese Type B" ang nakalagay.. after a month and a half of running regularly (3x a week 6-7k in 45 minutes) I went down to 210lbs.. that was around mid-april so dineretso ko pa hanggang I got down to 200lbs around June..

right now I weigh around 190-195lbs.. (bulk of fats I lost was my beer belly and love handles)

maintenance nalang kaya I no longer run 3x a week.. ginawa ko nalang 2x a week at 5km within 30mins..

next thing to do na is to "tone" my body by doing weights program.. since I already did weights before during college eh it wont be a problem anymore..

I plan to go back to 200lbs but with muscle mass this time.  :-D

Ako,.i started running last late March this year. I weighted 195lbs back then.

Running 3 times a week. 2-3k for the first couple of weeks, then 5-7k then 8-10k. Till the first week of June. Lately, once a week na lang.

With controlled meals and running, as of last week i weighted 168lbs.
