hanap ka ng IDOL then gayahin mo setup nya! hehehe..

I suggest you invest in good cymbals..

(650 to 800 lang to men. gibraltar pa ang brand). Tapakan mo ulit yung hihat at kakgatin nya ulit yung top hihat. Ayus to men.

2) Kung may drop clutch kana.. Buy Double-kick or twin-pedal. (Gibraltar price is about 6,500 last year price).

HWAG NA HWAG KANG BIBILI NG CHINA MADE CRAPPY ITEMS. madaling masira at ang badtrip pa nyan. Baga sa GIG mismo bumigay yon! hehehe...

I'm planning to buy a kit, which brand do you think is the best?

If you could advise any other brand which you think is better ok din po!

Budget would be around 40Kto 60K.

Thanks and God Bless!

Might as well get a Pearl Vison Series drums from JB. Thay have a variety of Vison Series depending on the type of wood used. HW from Pearl doesn't get that loose unless battered and abused. It really depends from the user on how he plays and takes care of the kit.  JB is also on sale right now so you might want to check them out.

at that price range, i'd go for a TAMA (great finishes) or a MAPEX (may libreng black panther snare)

copied+pasted from black_panther's multiply:

Quote
Mapex promo

20% off on m birch  and pro maple models plus an optional free black panther 12" cherry snare (worth 11,495) or a Stagg y253 cymbal set (worth 10,995)

20%off on VX limited edition, VX jazz kit, VX standard plus a free Stagg y253 cymbal set (worth 10,995)

Mapex Drum set buyers during the promo period can get a 20% discount on their next purchase of any Stagg Cymbals or Mapex Products. They just need to show receipt of proof of purchase.

Well as you can see on the post everyone here is telling you that you go for Tama superstar the strongest name on drums... if your budget is 60k shoot na shoot na sa Tama superstar custom laquered finish plus discount pa... you can get that below 60k... you will not get disappointed on the hardwares dahil Road-pro series hardwares na ang gamit ng superstar. The one that they used on starclassic series.... plus die-cast hoops already... you can check that on this link...

http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/world/distributors/frame_philippines.html

you will see the difference.... compare to other drum kits.... but still it's your choice but choose wisely.... god bless.....

sa 60K budget..

Pwede ka mag gretch, pearl, tama, Ludwig etc. Pero consider mo muna to.

1) Cymbals < mahal to at baka mawalan ka nang budget for this babies.
2) Skins or bater heads. (yung mga nasa new drums kasi 1 ply lang, pag narinig mo yung mga pinstipe ma papawow ka men.).
3) double-kick or twin-pedal. < mga 7k to 8K din to. iba na kasi yung may ABANG na double-kick sa single kick eh. Kasi less than a year (for newbies) magsasawa ka sa single kick at hahanap ka din ng double-kick.
4) THRONE - a good throne like gibralter cost about 3K. Men importante ito kahit sinong drummer will agree.

So given all those things and with 60K budget, i'd go for...
1) ludwig(birch)  8,12,13,16 toms with conversion kit this is under 40K sa JB with ZBT cymbals na to.
2) Buy double-kick na gibraltar (mga 7K to 8K).
3) Gibraltar throne (3K).
4) Zildian K 12" Splash + gibraltar boom (mga 7K itong 2)
5) sukli pang PEGASUS (kasi konti nalang eh) hehehe..

That is my best estimate for the "PRESENTLY" available drum sets sa JB. AudioPhile madami ding TAMA.

Sa set na yan, you can play almost anything (metal, pop, rock, jazz, etc). MA-AARAWS KA (hhehe).. Yung double-kick... well dagdag sa SKILL mo yan..

Additional Info...

Pag maganda ang drum set mo..
1) Gaganahan kang mag practice..
4) Your skill will develop faster, kasi walang problema yung set mo eh.
(300 lang to men) yung evans na mute kasi nasa 3K <<< Mahal  :-o

hi. newbie lang..im enrolling for drums lessons class sa RJ Academy,

1. tama lang ba na saka ako bumili ng kit after ng lessons ko or should i get na while im on it?

i wanna learn formally for myself lang naman, hobby and enjoying time kahit magisa lang ako parang ganon, and ive always wanted to learn talaga and masabayan mga kantang gusto ko pagtagal. tnx.

1) Better buy in-the-middle or after your lessons. Look for a set that you like and ask your teacher about it.
2) 15K to 20K budget... hmmm... hindi ba kaya 25K? sa 25K kasi ok na makukuha mong set.
3) Fusion set (or as I call it Wierd set) yung 10" 12" 14" toms. It's not so LOUD as the traditional set 12,13,16 toms. (Naka Fusion ako FYI)  :-D

- Either get fusion and add a 16" Tom or traditional set and get 10" or ROTO TOMS hehehe. it works naman. pero I really suggest fusion set.

P.S. Hwag kang bibili ng DDRUMS.. or Kung gusto mo talaga ng DDRUMS.. Check mo yung mga HARDWARE or yung mga BAKAL.. Kasi madaling PUMUTOK or MAGCRACK yung mga yon at WALANG REPLACEMENT PARTS ANG MGA YUN.

how about yung tinutukoy nya dito? ok ba to? and may nabasa din ako na TAMA brand for less than 20k? ok po ba yun? tnx!

hi. newbie lang..im enrolling for drums lessons class sa RJ Academy,

1. tama lang ba na saka ako bumili ng kit after ng lessons ko or should i get na while im on it?

its better to have your own kit already so you can practice at home what you are studying
2. hindi ko alam what set to buy, low budget lang din 15-20k. first drumset ko yun if ever. huli ako nakagamit ng drums dekada na, mga elementary pako and it wasnt
make it at least 25k, you can get a decent brand new brnaded drumset at that price range

i dont think so, men and women drummers are created equal

i wanna learn formally for myself lang naman, hobby and enjoying time kahit magisa lang ako parang ganon, and ive always wanted to learn talaga and masabayan mga kantang gusto ko pagtagal. tnx.

then practice whatever is taught to you..practice is the key practice makes perfect

1) Nope.

TAMA for less than 20K is WOOOW!! hehehe...

Mga kapatid i'd like to inform you that TAMA kit is not that expensive.... We have a starter kit.... Imperialstar set.... You can check out the price on store nationwide.... We used to have a 25k drumkit but that was already a discontinued model.... The Stagestar series... It's a very small kit.. Now we have the Imperialstar kit and comes with the complete set of stand.... If you have any inquiry just call me at 588-0919.... Thanks.....

oh I see. (na excite pa naman ako!) hehehe.

during your lesson/training. Mostlikely you'd be using the standard set (12" 13" 16" toms). From there, you can determine and have a 1st hand feel of what a standard set will be like.

Then when you're familiar with the standard set, try Fusion set (10" 12" 14" toms). then you can clearly decide which works better or feels and sounds better for you.

Big toms leads to loud sound, thus, heavy metal is good for standard sets. While Fusion toms are more pop, jazzy like feel. Hope this helps and good luck!  wink

ok thanks. sana madami pako mabasang inputs. thanks again!

My Newbie experience (hope you can get more info from this)

Idol ko si Lars Ulrich ng Metallica pero I started as a guitar player in music (actually Pioano kasi bata palang ako gi-ne-GAY ata ako ng nanay ko eh!) ehhehehe.

After reaching my peak sa guitar, I then moved to Drums and idolize Lars Ulrich.

So I went Window-shopping and found 8K crappy drum set. This is fine with me (at first) pero I find it "wasting" 8K kung yun ang bibilin ko. So I increase my budget and ended sa DDRUM na worth 26K.

During setting up, naBASAG yung lock nung Floor TOM  :| . So the following day, sinabi ko sa JB at papalitan daw nila. pero they also told me na "Sir next time dahan dahan lang po ang pag lock para di mabasag yung iba".

So binigyan nila ako ng replacement which is DIFFERENT COLOR and MADE  :-o. So I find it "NOT ACCEPTABLE". After discussing it with JB people. I then decided to change to "Pearl Forum". naging 32K na hehehe.. Pero wala akong trouble sa hardware and it sounded better sa DDRUM.

Yung DDRUM ko is Standard Set while yung Pearl forum is Fusion Set. This is why I told you before, try mo muna yung 2 set and then decided. (which I decided to get Fusion set).

OK, now that I have my set, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE hanggang naka buo na ako ng mga favorite songs ko. hehehe. At since nagimprove na yung drumming skills ko (thanks to YouTube and the movies I got from there). Gusto ko i-upgrade yung set ko.

So I got the following;
1) Gibraltar Double-pedal
2) HiHat Drop Clutch
3) Change my skins to REMO PINSTRIP and Emperor X for the snare.
4) Bought 12" K Splash, 14" & 18" China, 14" ZBT Crash and 16" A Custom medium crash.
5) Extra cymbal stands.

Moreover, when I bought the splash cymbal. 1st I bought the 10" A Custom splash. Kinabukasan sinoli at pinapalitan ko ng K 12"kasi hindi ko type yung tunog sa JB. Which the good people in JB accepted din.  :-D

Now I am playing more complicated pieces like TOTO, old school heavy metal like Metallica Megadeth, etc.,

Now I am looking for a 16" Floor tom para mahaba haba ang rolling at mas heavy (kung kailangan) ang tom beats.

Moral of my story is..

1) Stay away from crappy items and always compare the prices with New and 2nd hand items. kasi kung konti lang ang difference eh sa New kana. May WARRANTY PA!

And in the first place, ask your self..  BAKIT BINEBENTA YUNG 2nd hand?
A) maybe may mas maganda sa market?
B) Maybe hindi nagustuhan nung unang mayari.
C) Maybe may damage na.
D) etc etc...

2) Buy using your ear or how you feel. Hwag yung sa TINGIN lang! Music is listening not looking right?!  :-D

3) Go for GOOD or HIGH Quality items. kasi kung mag sawa ka or plano mo nang ibenta.

Hope this helps and let me know kung kelan kita sasamahan ah!  hehehe :-D
