I hope this gains momentum. I find myself in the same situation... corporate drone, turning 34, ortigas area, still having musical ambitions, but nothing full time. I like blues, rock, jazz, bossa, anything 90s-ish, and want to get into originals. I am no virtuoso.
Might I suggest, so that momentum can be built, make it as easy as possible to start a community. Start with minimal expectations, and no rigid model. Hindi band concept kaagad... this way, no one is intimidated, there is minimal resource requirements, and more are encouraged to participate. We don't know each other personally, so there is intimidation and hesitation kahit paano.
Start with a simple icebreaker/EB/meetup just to talk about ideas or perhaps 80/90s music. Then maybe we can progress into an acoustic jam the following weekend at some relatively quiet public area (ex: greenfield district park, eastwood, etc.). Structured band models and more sophisticated setups can follow once we gain momentum. I'm pretty sure that with this age group, gear/resources wont be an issue... we just need an icebreaker.
Heck, we can even make it simpler than a physical meetup so that it's more encouraging to join. If you guys have facebook accounts, I can create and admin a restricted facebook group... then we can start sharing ideas there and get to know each other personally.
Let me start the ball rolling. Please share ideas on a good facebook group name, then I can create the facebook group right away, and start accepting/inviting members.
Sorry for the long post. Obviously, I am enthusiastic about this idea, and I think its worth the time and effort. Your thoughts please...
