Recommended Songs for Beginner Drummers
« on: September 06, 2006, 07:38:56 PM »

Ok ba? Ako na una,here are my 3 songs;

1)"Groovy kind of Love" by Phil Collins. ..Hindi ko pinag aralan ng note by note 'to,bastat sinasabayan ko lang ng "Tug Pak Tugtug Pak,Tug Pak...

2)"When I saw her standing there" by the Beatles...medyo upbeat na 'to.

I believe alternative rock is easier for a beginner kasi mostly 4/4 lang. Try mo yung all-time favorite ng mga rock drummers. I'm sure lahat dito knows how to jam with this... Smells Like Teen Spirit. Hehe. Medyo iconic yung grooves nan eh.

Toad The Wet Sprocket's All I Want is also very basic. Mainstream nga lang.

Metallica's Enter Sandman is also an icon for drummers and for me is also basic for a beginner.

Hehe. I suggest downloading tabs on some websites though para mas precise palo mo.

If you want to get your roots established in jazz... try John Riley's recordings. for funk, try Dennis Chambers'. Wag mo lang muna sabayan. Mabigat na yon eh. :)

nirvana - come as you are  - dali lang sabayan nung beat tapos dali lang ng mga fills
the vines get free - magandda din pang practice para sa timing ng mga fills.

I remembered when I was starting out I would usually play-along with Green Day and Nirvana tunes. Very basic drumset playing.
It helped me a lot... regarding getting my coordination and speed.
I would never get the exact drum part on some songs and that is where I'll come up with some new/fresh groove or drum lick of my own.
Hope you get some ideas too along the way.
