Parang everyone has got an offset at this point.  Look at any indie rock-type band and there's at least one in the group strumming one.  Seems rather commonplace now.

Went a different direction with guitar acquisitions since--picked up an Ibanez AZ last spring.

BTW from what I've gathered, the Jazzmaster anniversary triple pick-up editions should be hitting stores soon.  The folks that have pre-ordered it since winter NAMM have relief fairly soon.

Fender Meteora

Any reactions?

I dig it but think the HH version looks a lot nicer. I also wish they made this in black.

I'm just glad offsets are just viewed as regular guitars now. I noticed a conscious trend towards nicer Strats now among younger players and indie kids oddly enough.

I think it's silly to think Mexican guitars are bad. The Classic Player line in particular has always been good, and people are only starting to warm up to it now. I'ma defend Fender Mexico hard lol.

Go for it. Every good thing is worth pursuing.

Speaking of which, my latest acquisition as of a couple of weeks ago was a Classic 50s Player Stratocaster in Shoreline Gold finish. This model was a joint effort designed by the Fender Custom Shop and built in the Fender Ensenada Plant.  The neck's backplate is stamped "Fender Custom Shop Designed".

I love that the 2-point trem and the locking tuners are the modern appointments to it, not to mention that the switch setting between the middle and neck pickup is wired to activate the bridge and neck pickups simultaneously.  This comment should really go in the Stratocaster thread, but whatever...

Thank you! It was a long road getting here. Now I just want to get nicer parts for the guitars I already have.

Jesus, I swear that's part of what usually puts me off sa Strats. The neck + bridge setting is one of my favorite sounds, especially coming from mostly Jags and JMs. Btw, have you ever owned a G&L? Really interested in getting something with MFDs someday, like a good ASAT or something. The recent Doheny model looks to be really exciting din!

I think that's one reason why this particular Strat model passed the smell test.  It's like having the switching configurations of a Jaguar, except there's the option of a middle pickup tone.  One detail to add about this guitar is that the middle pickup is reverse-wound.

Funny you asked...I do own one.  It now lives in our house in Baguio.  I do love that guitar's pickups.  It doesn't have that icepick tone like the Fender Teles.  It also goes better with dirt pedals if you take the time to mess with the settings on the guitar, amp, and pedals.  It does look like the recently circulated George Harrison Teles that came out last year, save for the obvious differences.

My MIM is in the average range. Maybe slightly lighter at barely 8lbs. The Squier I have is quite a bit heavier. Basta mid/high end Mexican stuff, build quality is fairly consistent IME.
