Just want to share my first attempt at building my own guitar cabinet
I used 3/4” inch solid pine
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180428/a49837ef8c127c07734cf37b64a79676.jpg)
I wanted to try dovetail joints as well which is also a first for me so sharpening my chisels is a must

Most joints are quite well done but on the inside there are some gaps

I cut the bracing for the baffle and back from the left over pine board

The baffle board is made out of 3/4” particle board which came from a broken closet I picked up from trash a few months back

Painted the baffle board black

I thought I’d experiment with wood stain and some form of finish but was too lazy to research so instead I used some leftover tolex from a previous flightcase build

My spade bit wasnt big enough to accomodate the jack plate so I filed the hole with some needle files

Installed the Celestion Eight 15

I forgot to take a pic of how I installed the grill cloth but I used a stapler
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180428/a65effe5f5fa96be383dfaf341c6f6dc.jpg)
Installed the handle and metal corner guards

I dont have a soundclip yet but I use this mainly with my Orange MT for bedroom practice. It is very dark sounding to my ears and I have to turn the tone knob on my amp to max level to get the sound that I like. I play strats btw. I wonder if it is the closed back that causes more bass projection and less scattered sound or it is in the nature of small speakers like this, let me know below
Lastly, this was inspired by Sir Chino’s builds and thank you sir for answering some of my questions along the way.
It was fun trying this out as a preparation for my next cab build, a 1x12 cab with Eminence speaker.
I will also share my travel ukulele build soon, still working on it now.
Peace and rock on!

Thanks Sir! Medyo dark sounding sya. Parang nabibitin ako sa clarity so max level ang tone sa micro terror.
Parang gusto ko gumawa ng DIY Roland Street Cube

If one really needs some pine boards, one could always buy 2x4s or wider in pine from the home depot or wilcon stores, joint them, then resaw yourself. I find these to come up to around 3/4" thick after im done planing. If one were so inclined with the extra exercise.
You could also do 1x thicknesses, but be sure to pick straight quartersawn, and try to do your joinery ASAP. These tend to move, twist or cup after cutting to length. Sometimes you get away with it.

You can always buy here: https://www.filtratimber.com/
Email them, they answer quickly. Russian birch plywood 18mm x 5 ft x 6 ft was Php 3700 plus VAT 2-3 years ago.
