I dont know how to call it yet but Im trying to start a lifestyle trend which revolves around simple and frugal living. shunning hyper consumerism and focusing on the essentials. Eliminating a life of clutter and waste...I have been quite frugal and simple these past couple of years..low carbon lifesyle too but would like to take this way of life to a higher level..

Im thinking of living a life of "only one good thing"..where in the concept is to only have 1 of everything you need..but is of high quality and style and could last for years and years..as much as possible..

1 good pair of shoes, perhaps 1 leather and one rubber

1 good all around watch..of a good brand and quality..

1 good pair of sunglasses

1 good quality and reliable car

1 good phone

1 good computer

a few good pairs of pants

a few good quality shirts, belts..etc..

a few good, branded, high quality music gear..

so on and so forth..

the object is to keep "STUFF" as minimal as possible..stripped of all those useless--throw away.. junk thats around us to consume and buy..

it is said that buying high quality things will pay off for itself in the long run..and will last years and years..

I am contemplating on selling off all my gear I have accumulated to focus on only a few, good items that matter..

Your thoughts?

1 pair of leather shoes, pamasok sa office
1 pair of leather shoes pangporma
1 pair sneakers pang porma
1 pair running shoes
1 pair slip on pang harabas
the list goes on....

same tayo, in terms of gear doon ko natutunan to...so gusto ko i-apply sa lifestyle..little by little..sobrang magpayoff in the long run..

kasi.."you really will get for what you've pay for.."

A Minimalist’s Train of Thought

Less money spent means more money saved

More money saved means the longer you can live in financial peace and security

Financial peace and security comes from owning less

Less stuff owned means less to carry around, move or have to travel with

Less responsibility for your stuff also means less maintenance and more time

The more time you have, the more relaxed you will feel

The more relaxed you are, the less you will care about stuff

If you care less about stuff, it means you’ll care less about image

If you care less about image, you will care more about experiences and memories

If you care more about experiences and memories, you will be happier with less

If you are happier with less, you’ll never want or need for more

The less you want or need for more, the more you will feel free

I'm a very minimalist person. Set your mindset to what you need instead of what you want.

Ditch that spherical light enclosure and it will be minimalist :)

I'm still striving to achieve that minimalist lifestyle. Pero when it comes to music gear, I have ditched 3 basses. Isa na lang ngayon. Drums and cymbals binenta na rin dahil walang lalagyan. 1 dreadnought guitar and electric. The old/first car had to go, magastos mag-restore/maintain.

Sa clothes naman, there was a time nag-ukay-ukay galore kami ni misis. Any cool prints na makita namin, bili na. Tinigilan na namin. Nagpipigil na rin ako ngayon na bumili palagi ng mga sapatos (that's my vanity). Pants, yun pa rin, walang bago. Since nagte-telecommute ako, I barely wear pants, he he he. Shorts medyo dumami (warning about baggy shorts, nakatataba ito!).

Gadgets, talagang minimalist na kami ngayon. Computers, hindi pa. I.T. ang field ko so I need those for testing VMs and all that Linux and services.

But going minimalist is a goal for us too.

ako when I go and explore..food lang pinaggagastusan ko. and my mementoes pictures lang..I rarely buy those "abubot" or mga souvenirs..I really consider them dust eaters at home. ..

Question: in applying the minimalist approach on things, di ba parang mas magastos sya kasi im buying items of the best quality - which also equates to a larger sum of money.

parang Firemodel55 - lets admit the versatility of the guitar is great.at wala pa sa kwentahan yung top of the line hardware na sinalpak.true, it may be able to replace all the guitars one may have in his rack, pero the damage in the wallet is also huge.
