Busking Anyone?
« on: July 07, 2013, 06:53:26 AM »
May nakasubok na ba sa inyo nito? I'm planning to learn a few filipino folk song and perform publicly. Medyo kinakabahan ako dahil I've never done it before.  I don't see it as namamalimos or another source of income (have a stable job working for an airline) but a way to improve my skills and share music to the public.

Also, I wouldn't mind spending a couple of dollars after the performance.

Cool idea bro. Have a performance on video ah? Panuod.  :)

Simon and Garfunkel started as buskers in London.

I'd love to do something like this one day. Hehehe. How difficult is it to get a permit over there?

Hmmm... I think it sort of does matter. I've seen buskers in a few different countries, and so far, it's the ones in the Philippines I actually feel sorry for. In other places, I really see the buskers having fun -- especially the ones playing badly. At least that's my perspective.

my younger brother plays kundiman and old filipino folk songs (he's really good) kaya naaalala ko pag brownout dati sa mandaluyong, maglalabas lang siya ng acoustic guitar at tugtog lang siya sa labas ng bahay.  a few of our kapitbahay would gather around listening to him habang naghihintay ng kuryente.

This was one of the buskers I listened to on a walkabout in Amsterdam.

Nakakatuwa yung sistema nila. For one thing, ang lakas nung AER amp niya. Dinig na dinig siya doon sa buong Square which is easily more than a hectare of open air. Second, nag-uusap yung mga musikero. There were 3 or 4 of them and they respect each other and take turns.

Go lang sir!!  why not try mo magperform with someone at first? Tapos pag komportable ka na, go solo later on?

Basta give your best shot everytime!!

I'd really like to (not really busk) play a short set sa Fort where I could plug my laptop, a small PA, and a guitar amp and mostly just my instrumentals.

dried it here for fun,

Played some ventures and shadows tunes + backing tracks..to some old folks dancing at the plaza near my pad...it was fun but, I was just running on a 2 watt microcube sa open area..kaya di ko maramdaman yung OMPPH..the old folks danced though and some of the old lolos were even amazed with the microcube....

when I asked them Id like to play for them..they immediately asked me..is it free? hahaha..

didnt earn anything that night..just good memories..

busking here could rake you good GAS and Beer money....haha..maybe sometime Ill give it  a go again..

whats nice here is there are nice parks where you can go to especially during spring..bring your guitars..and instruments with a bunch of friends and just play...theres always a crowd who will watch you with delight...

BAWAL YAN! KUHA KAYO PERMIT,SER"..or may mangugulo na mga jologs at batang hamog..baka nakawin pa gear mo...

Astig to. Ask ko lang, yung mga bulag na tumutugtog sa kalye ba ay Busker din? or just plain Musician tryin' to make ends meet?
