:) we mic'd the amps. straightforward naman yung micing, i used 2 mics for each guitar part, the md421 and a vintage akg d12e. mic choice and positioning was crucial because the goal was to use no processing on the guitar tracks (except maybe to roll off the low end on the mix... i think si shinji nagmix nung radio version). the idea was to find the right blend between the two mics to get the "equalization" we wanted. if i remember correctly we used mostly the amps' built in distortions. :)

I think i used hazel's mesa/boogie (my favorite amp of all time) ;) I used my Orville Melody Maker and my custom 12-string acoustic for my guitar parts. I think Chino used his lefty Orville LP for his guitar parts. I also think he used the Marshall combo amp.
Ang galing mag-mic ni Hazel ng amps! Sobra niyang tiyagang maghanap ng sweet spot! (yessssss!!!) ;)

hehehe... di naman... nagkataon lang :roll: kasi noong panahon na yan, di pa naka-set up yung gibson sg at sonex ko. kaya yung orville ang ginamit ko. Si chino, yung white orville LP talaga yung main axe nya :lol:
I really think it's better to mic an overdriven amp, kaysa umasa sa OD stomp boxes (for recording ha?)... Of course, the premise is that you should have a very good amp with very good OD/Distortion!!!
Btw, if ever ibebenta mo yang Orville SG mo, pls, offer it to me first? hehe thanks a lot!! :)

Anyway, i've been looking for unique boutique OD pedals... ang daming gumagawa here sa philmusic, pero puro mga clones lang naman. i want something unique talaga... (and not just mods ha)...
Si Marco/Machineman from Paramita has this OD w/ a 12AX tube... Di ko pa na-try, pero sya na yung pinaka-original na pedal na nakita ko here. May alam ka pa bang iba?

i have no qualms using pedals or the pod, pero PREFERENCE ko lang talaga yung guitar to amp setup. in my rather limited expereince and exposure to amps and pedals, mas nadidinig ko yung "open" na tunog sa amp distortion. and im not even talking about JUST tube amps. even the fender stage has nice distortion tones!
id really want to hear boutique pedals some time and see if they are up to par with amp distortion :)

nakakatawa. it felt like i was taken back to my late grade school/high school days when i would patiently wait for the release of my favorite foreign hair band's cassette. i would visit my suking record bar every now and then to ask if narelease na (wala pang internet noon). and hopelessly whine to myself when the saleslady mumbles "di pa na-release sir" OR "ay, out of stock po" ...
granted, i struck gold at my frist try this time around. i just want to say that i haven't anticipated a local cd release as much as i did for "self-titled". awesome job by the band and sir shinji and ma'm hazel. congratulations! :-)

p.s. i played my CD of NTS until it started skipping due to overplaying. it kept me company during long drives to and from cavite. and now, i have another CD to abuse. :-D
