dun sa nanghihingi ng review, sulit na to for its price, decent sounding effects except the flanger (kulang na kulang). may scratchy sound produced when adjusting the knobs kahit naka-off (dont know why). i'm not really using this anyway, gusto ko lang i-try.

Seems like my experiment of trying to gig with a Fender Princeton Reverb II (22 watts) is coming to an end as I don't think its loud enough to gig with, specially with a "loud" drummer. So I finally decided to retube and replace the speaker of my Peavey Classic 30 instead of looking for another amp. I ordered the following from Eurotubes:

ECC81 Standard, ECC832 Standard, ECC83S High Current, EL84 Matched Quad

I'm also getting a Eminence Legend GB12 to replace the stock Peavey Blue Marvel speaker.

I should have them by next week.

Chito, just a question. Can you salvage the Princeton Reverb and still use it for your gigs by micking the amp to the P.A.? Wouldn't that make it loud enough for the rest of the band to hear?

I suppose I can do that. But right now, we only have a 2 X 200 watt Peavey for our PA and pretty much use it just for the vocals. We almost always have to do our own sound (no soundman) and its difficult enough trying to get the vocals set up properly, adding the guitar would even complicate things. Specially towards the end of the night when our drummer seems to get louder and louder.

I have actually replaced the speaker on the Princeton with the same Eminence Legend GB12 (50 watts), hoping I'd get more headroom but I still feel its not enough. At high volume, it starts to get shrilly. It's a great amp when played at low volumes but as soon as you crank it up, it just gets too bright for me. I guess having been playing my Twin for the last 10 years, I'm still looking at getting the same headroom. BTW, I only use the clean channel on any amp I use and depend on pedals to do my distortion/overdrive sounds. Another option is to get rid of our drummer... hahahahaha

I'm not exactly giving up on the Princeton actually but I'm just trying to give myself more options. I just can't carry that darn Twin around anymore. I could also play both the Princeton and the Classic 30 at the same time which I tried once but our singer thought I was to loud!!

Also, defeats the purpose of carrying something lighter altho instead of carrying an 80lb amp I'll be carrying 2 40lbs separately.

Well... getting rid of your drummer is 1 main option you can go with. Just use drum machine, hehe.

I guess 30 watt Peavey is louder thatn 22 watt Fender. But I don't think it'll give you that much difference or enough headroom for that matter. Plus... you still have that loud banging drummer of yours to take into consideration, hehe

. I know how it feels. When I was with my cover before I never used anything lower than 50 watts just because of the simple fact that our drummer was loud. Boy, wish those guys come with a volume knob

Not suggesting you get a new amp, but have you checked aroung for a nice 50 watter amps out there? The Devilles, I believe, can do the task pretty well with enough headroom for you play around in. They're a little bit expensive and heavier in weight than what you have now... but will take care of your volume problem. Your in Canada, how about the Traynors, or Carvins. Phil just got the Nomad 1x12 50 watters. He loves it. Loud and light
