Among local dealers, I think the cheapest Canon powershot is around P11K or P14K. But that's the price in the malls. You can look around Hidalgo to see if they have new ones in the sub P10K range. Mas mura talaga sa Hidalgo even if they are the same units with full local warranty.

My mistake, prices have dropped a bit (must be the dollar exchange rate?). Browsing through an Abenson the other day, The cheapest Canon powershot is now P8.5K for 3.2 megapixels. That's not bad at all.

Mahal kasi talaga pag DSLR e mga nasa $600 above pero kung gusto mo yung okay yung mga features yet mura like 10k in pesos suggest ko nalang na mag Sony DSC S60 ka

dito 10k siya

Not having used either, I can only gauge by the samples posted in the site... I find the Kodak's better, easier on the eye and more pleasing in terms of color tones. The Finepix samples seem to jar my vision sometimes.

If your always on the go and you think u need to carry a camera in your pocket... go for the Finepix but Canon Ixus series is much better.

If you think you really need to capture great photos and get the feeling like a PRO. go for the KODAK... again Canon 300D is better and the price is not that really high than the Kodak.

Im not really endorsing Canon but Canon is Canon.

Okay, I'll try to do more research and shall consider other brands such as Canon, Panasonic, and Sony. My budget is below $400 only.

Thanks!

Hindi sa sinisiraan ko ang SONY but i tried to work for about 6mos for SONY Support (Call Center for experiece lang hehe) and most customers are unhappy of their digicams. I myself have a DSC-P92, after a year its not performing very well na.

I'm kinda leery about Kodak...
For an SLR I would stick to Canon or Nikon.
For a compact I would go for Canon, Panasonic Lumix, Sony, Pentax.

I just got a new toy, a Canon Powershot SD800 IS that I bought in Amazon.com (I think in Asia and Europe its called the Ixus 850). And I'm quite happy with it. I got it for those times bringing along my SLR is not convenient.

Why go with an expensive "almost SLR" when you can buy a real slightly used SLR for the same price nowadays?

Helo pips! Thanks in advance. Godbless!

I believe Canon is the market leader in digital photo equipment but why are Nikon DSLRs more expensive than Canon?  :?

Competition between Nikon and Canon existed since film based SLR's pa lang.

Comparison between 2 entry level DSLR the Canon EOS Rebel and Nikon D50:
