Title: neck through body experience?
Post by: aparma on August 03, 2006, 01:47:08 PM: just wanted to know if anybody here has tried playing with a neck through body guitar, sound and feel, if it really does make a big difference in sustain, reliability, etc. or if it has its problems. thanks.

they sound full,more midrange.. especially the all-mahogany construction type of guitars...a good blend of of full sound that has more treble than all-mahogany type is if it is maple-capped.. the feel may vary from each guitarists' taste but the sustain is overwhelming, since i have been using a bolt-on just until recently..the notes just ring out more than the bolt on type..

reliability..construction; those really need extra care than those bolt-ons.. most of them has angled necks or headstock so u cant just lay em around on the floor like thos strats and tele's..the are very reliable though based on my knowledge, u just have to give them more attention cause when u break a neck on those guitars its hard to replace or repair them..but i think they have equal reliability based on performance...

Mas full lalo n pag downtune. Sa sustain, comparing it to my other bolt-on guitar, ndi naman masyado malayo yung haba ng sustain. Pinakagusto ko lang sa neck through, yung upper fret access kasi talagang very comfortable kahit mag scale ka sa 21st fret. Sa looks, sexy yung itsura ng neckthrough pag nakatalikod.

Pero i wouldn't diss my other bolt-on guitar kasi my characteristic tone ang bolt-on na di ko makuha sa neckthrough (o, sa akin lang problema :lol: )

the neck of the guitar is not bolted on ( no screws) if im not mistaken the body and neck are 1?

Post by: stratman1 on August 03, 2006, 11:28:18 PM: I played neck-thru bodied guitar before. I believe it was a Carvin made ones and a Jackson San Dimas soloist model. Very nice. You get a fatter tone and more sustain. Same as the glued-in guitars like Les Pauls and PRS's. But like what everyone said, it is a bitch to fix the neck because you cannot just go out and buy a replacement neck unlike the bolt-on ones. And if you have the neck fixed proffesionally, it never feels and looks the same again, IMHO.
