Zendrive2 and Blackface Dzound

Oki doki, was up all night burning the midnight oil at jims place with ibanez man... (jim, i tried the "warat" on my rig, i dunno if my ears just folded, text tayo again to exchange notes on our "experiment")

Got to try the zen 2 next to the blackface dzound (which i shall refer to as the BD), and good lord, its bloody close. bloody bloody close.

This is my fave incarnation of the dzound. its bigger sounding, has more thump to it (after a careful tweak jim did to the bass frequency) and double the gain. it made ibanezman's strat sound nice and fat.

next to the zen 2, i can say the similarity is about 85% there. factors being that the zen 2 is a tube loaded device, and alot smoother. there is one minor tweak i am awaiting... jim, go for it!

i like the bd alot. damn gas...

i went to Sir Jim's place last night so he can check my whiteface dzound

also a good reason to try his new BLACKFACE Dzound yebah!

hep! hindi pa tapos kasi...
i tried it besides a real Zendrive2  :-o (gas gas gas)

zendrive is a zendrive!(it's also a clone, right? right! )
blackface dzound sounds awesome! fat bottom, high just right!
it's a zendrive2 without a tube! if you are a fanatic, try it!

(I'm not saying i have a superb credibility... pero ang sarap gamitin! )

Bottomline...
Jmorrero's Blackface Dzound killed my Gas for a Zendrive

EDITED for additional details from using it w/ other gtrs and other situations:

vegetablejoe and I did a mini-shootout of the DZound (whiteface v2) compared against a Kramtone ZDC, and a real Zendrive. we used a Tokai Strat and a Squier Tele Custom w/ SD P-Rails (hb, sc, p90) through a ZT Lunchbox. pedal settings for test was around Vol 9 to 10 oclock, Gain 10 to 12 o clock, Tone 1 to 3 oclock, Voice 1 to 3 oclock. for my own tastes/ears, it seems unity is achieved at 3oclock Tone and Voice, though, especially when i use it with my Variax (maybe to tame the hi's).

in a nutshell, their sound differences are minimal, or at least hard to distinguish (or maybe I had ear fatigue or little practice) but it reminded me why I sold my original Zendrive. :-)  IMO, it's just got its own sound - a thick, gooey middy sound with too much gain for my tastes. more than other pedals i've tried, it really imposes its own sound (esp. w/ a Variax) and you will really have to tweak it accdg to what gtr+amp you're using to make it work.  i think it's best application for me would be if i had to play slide on a  single coil guitar and a bright, solid state amp.

if i were just concerned whether it sounds close to a real Zendrive, i'd say it gets in that ballpark. i don't think i'd be able to distinguish betw them in a double blind test. that's just my opinion; i don't know about vjoe's.

your pedal is not a blackface dzound bro :-), its a whiteface v.2.... blackface dzound yung may shan symbol.

Blackface Dzound is in zendrive 2 and zendrive se tone category

Zendrive 2 and Blackface Dzound (w/shan symbol) shootout

Zendrive SE / Tokai Les Paul

Whiteface Dzound V.2

Dzound Version 1 is clearer and lesser gain than v.2 and blackface, blackface w/ shan symbol is gainer and fatter than v.2

Whiteface Version 1

haha... my bad.  i told you it's confusing!  tnx bro. i edited my earlier post na.

tnx also for offering to tweak the pedal. what i really wanted is a whiteface v1 cuz that's what i first heard on the demos. wala pa atang v2 nung time na nagkainterest ako. in any case, sorry i wasn't more specific. basta gusto ko less gain and more transparent!

Hi Sir, i own a whiteface D'Zound care of Sir Biboy (guitbox). I'm very satisfied with the clarity and the tone of this pedal. Sulit talaga.  :-D
Would just like to ask if this is a clone of a Lovepedal Kanji Eternity or a Zendrive? Yun lang naman. Thanks!
