I went to Carvin Sunset yesterday...drop off my MTS3212 combo for repair...nobody was there so I decided to try out the vintage series amps...since I already have the Legacy and the MTS....spent 1 hour inside the booth with the vintage 16, Nomad, and Bell Air.....got a nice looking bolt on strat Carvin guitar from the shelf and fire away.... had all the amps up ...cranked.... obviously the Bel Air and Nomad where the ones calling my name. I was totally blown away by the sounds I'm getting. I was getting really nice blues and rock tones from it....CRANKED....but I don't need a 2x12 ...decided to get a Nomad....1x12 ...light...exactly the same amp as the Bel Air but with only one speaker...an 8 ohm Celestion Vintage 30. It has all the nice stuff..effects loop, footswitch, ohm selector switch, acoustic presence knob, a voiced cabinet line out....sweet.
...when I came out with the guitar and the cable at hand...2 salesperson approached me and said...."Do you still have your hearing, buddy?"...and laughed...little did I know that while I was wailing away...the whole store was listening to me.....hahahahaha...I said, I thought the room was sound proof? ....the salesperson said...do you see any soundproof material in there?.....so advice to people whos gonna try out the booth...lower down the volume.........but really I enjoyed tryiing out all 3 amps and just having a time in my life in that little booth.
The clean and soak channel is what I'm looking for blues and classic stuff.....don't need no pedal in between my guitar and amp anymore. And when I crank up the soak, I love the harmonics it produce...really really different from the MTS and Legacy....can even get 80s metal tone with it.
I think I'm gonna stop buying guitars for awhile and collect amps now.....amps that I like...not collectable and botique ones.....here is my new blues and rock setup...
