before and afters... nirescue ko from someone na wlang puso hehehe

now someone else owns it who is so proud. i couldnt blame him. i miss the thing. the neck pickup had a heavenly tone. so uncharacteristic of a squier.

bafore

after.. replaced truss rod with new skunk back, and clear coated.

bafore.. cheap gritty tuning machines and rusty trees

after... gotoh machines with stainless trees

bafore... rustified cheap bridge and saddle

maganda ang squire

famous rockers that use squire here in the Philippines

Eheads = I saw them at an mtv live event on tv using squire (circa 90's)
orange and lemmons = clem used a vintage 52' squire blonde
pupil = i saw them on tv ysing squire strat
pedicab = j.sonic uses squire tele and squire telecaster custom. now he uses fender 72 custom tele..but still a custom tele.
marcus = squirre hello kitty used in eheads farwell concert

i tested a squire custom tele with duncan pu at perfect pitch..hell yeah it can rock..plugged in gt-10 there and jc120 amp cool :) I own a fender but im getting a squire too..im choosing between hello kitty and custom tele

ito ba yung squire thinline tele nila with duncan designed pu's?  mataba nga ang tone niya compared to the original tele.  pero for the price, i'd rather save up a bit more to get a fender mim.  :-)

may tanuong lang po ko ano ba mas maganda wood alder o agathis? sa fender standard tele kasi alder. sa standard squier tele agathis. di mas maganda pa pala wood gamit ng afinity series ng squier kaysa sa standard series squier tele?

Agathis
The wood is commonly used in the manufacture of mid-ranged guitars, due to its good resonating properties, yet relatively low price of production.

Alder
It is popular as a material for electric guitar bodies, provides a brighter, resonant, well-rounded tone with excellent sustain than any other woods.

Matagal na akong nagresearch about this. As for me, I totally prefer buying an Affinity Series (Special Edition) than buying a Standard. I'll just convert it to string-through and make some necessary upgrades. Mas swabe for me 8-)

Thanks, guys. Yes, it's practically a GFS-parts bin Squier 51. Kulang nalang GFS '51 pickguard.  :-D

The upgrades are as follows:

- GFS top loading bridge
- GFS black circular string retainers
- GFS Vintage Liverpool bridge pickup
- GFS Alnico Fatbody tele neck pickup
- GFS black Kluson-look alike machine heads
- CTS 500K dual concentric knob for volume and tone
- Les Paul-type 3-way switch
- Graphtec nut

For the '51 though, I feel the high priority upgrades are for the nut and the bridge. Changing these two yielded a big difference in the tone of the guitar. The pots were also a good upgrade.

Great upgrades jdawg! I totally agree on the tone yield when changing the bridge and nut. I remember a luthier telling me: "To really change your tone, upgrade the parts the are in direct contact with the strings to get greater outcome in the desired tone change."

Nice squire! :-)

OT: Btw is that a Vox pathfinder? 10 or 20 watt?

It's a Pathfinder 10 that's been modded with a speaker out so I can use it as a head.
