I don't think you need to change brands if the one you're using is working for you. One year is a feat. I even can't make normal strings last a month.

Pero pag nag-Elixir ka, baka hindi ka na gumastos ulit para sa strings. Forever na yan. Ready ka na ba para sa ganung commitment?

got mine 7 months na(bought it last august). still new. what i do : punas parati every after playing, lubricate it with mineral oil before and after playing(works for me. reduces friction of the pick against the coating.). btw, d'addarios last only 3 weeks with me..

Elixir strings will be very subjective to a lot of different players chemical makeup, playing style and usage. Strings can last 3 to 5 months, some even longer. It varies from player to player but the strings are worth it!!!

yep bro  me dalwang klase ng technology merun ang elixir string one is nanoweb which is more thick ung feeling mas bright in my opinion mas traditional ung feeling para sa akin.... ok den polyweb kc mas makapal coating ng string mas makintab pero tingin ko mas bright ung nanowebs sa feel halos parehas lng sila

Here is a message i got from Elixir.

       I reviewed the images sent by Jay Naoe.  The pictures show very deep
fret marks on all strings, suggesting significant usage over the stated 2-3
month time period.  It is important to note that all guitar strings wear as
they are played.  The amount wear is based on the forces acting on the
strings like the force to fret or the aggressiveness of strumming.

       Elixir Strings have an Anti-Rust plating on our plain steel strings
which lasts 3-5X longer than standard tin plated steel strings when exposed
to sweat.  However the actual use life of a guitar string will vary from
player to player and eventually all guitar strings will fail.   While it is
difficult to make a definitive statement from these pictures, it appears
these strings have simply degraded after heavy use over an extended period
of time.  The images are in-line with our expectations for a string at the
end of life and should not be considered defective.

elixir user here (for bass),  mas matagal  talaga tone and brightness of the strings no question dun,  but it seems na pag pinupunasan sya mas mabilis na mawala ang coating , so i just let it be before and after playing, or if wipe it not as vigorously as i will wipe non coated string.Ganun din yung friend ko who uses it for his acoustics, i never even see him  wipe it.
