The sorry state is how the companies "create" pop music in the Philippines, i.e relying on soft porn and novelty gimmiks which not only halts the progress of the pinoy's ears but closes the doors for new stuff altogether. POP itself is not bad. The Beatles were POP, so is your favorite rock band today.(we wouldn't have liked the band if they are not popular at least to us).

The real score? the philippines is still under the claws of the"dying" record companies. the true sense of independent music has not really taken off in the motherland.

ONLY WHEN THE LISTENERS START TO STEER AWAY FROM THE DICTATES OF THE RECORD COMPANIES CAN THE PHILIPPINES HAVE A "BETTER" POP.

LONG LIVE INDEPENDENT ARTISTS. LETS ALL MAKE A BETTER POP.

once the pinoy audience gets the "wider" musical taste, everything will fall into place. All music genres will get its own big share of the market. WE WILL THEN BE FREE FROM THE CLUTCHES OF THE RECORDING COMPANIES!
The key is to educate. Educate the pinoy ear.
