What would you recommend between the Grado SR60e/SR60i vandAudio Technica ATH-M50? Got to try these in a local store but I just want to know your thoughts about these cans. I'm currently searching for mixing headphones when I'm on the go. Thank you in advance!

Mixing headphones on the go, is go for the M50, because it's closed back. However, if you don't mind he open back design of the Grados (if on the go mixing means you still get a nice quiet room to yourself), you'd want the SR80i instead, which is still cheaper than an M50.

If we're narrowing the genres to heavy rock and metal, which of the two would you recommend? According to what I've read about the Grados, you can't hear outside noise that aren't less than 4 meters away. Though, I'm not really concerned much if it's closed or open back, I'm looking for the more "honest" sounding headphones.

Pahabol din pala, i'm also looking at the Audio Technica ATH-M40x, how does it compare to the two? Thanks again! :)

kung honest sounding paps, M50 ako. tska iba parin ang closed back. mas maraming pwedeng application. .

kung magm40 ka paps, might as well spring a little extra for the M50.

mas gusto ko kasi yung nadedetach yung cable na feature ng m40x and m50x. kaso, way too pricey na yun m50x for me

Fids, I'd stay away from Grado if you're looking to use them for mixing. Aside from hindi sila flat EQ, there's bleeding due to the open back design. Go for the M50. Also look at the KRK headphones kung naka sale pa sa TMS.  :-)

Oo nga e! Tubong lugaw! hahaha!

Closed and open back influences the "honesty" of certain aspects of cans, which is especially true for affordable models. For example, open back ones generally have a more honest soundstage and generally "flatter" response, and closed back cans have more honest bass and mids especially when hard rock/metal and electronic music are concerned. This is for cheap cans, not the 5 digit ones.

For your use case, the M50 is much better because the bass and sub bass will be better represented. Contrary to cayle's view of the Grados, I find them quite flat, provided that you don't expect a "subwoofer in your ears" effect. They're not stellar for bass heavy stuff though.

^i checked the reviews and might drop by Egghead mamya pauwi.

kung hindi pa naaddress ni FiiO, baka ang maging main problem ay chinese menu at the first time you turn it on at sabog na files - nakakalat, un-arranged songs.

Mukang takaw dumi.

well kung convinced na kayo sa ipod, theres no need for you to buy this type of player. ipod touch owner ako for 3 years. satisfied din ako sa kanya. kung mga rock, pop and hip hop tunes ang pinapakinggan mo at ang focus mo ay marinig yung songs sa kabuuan nya, you will go for the mainstream players.

ako, i wanted more. i want clear separation of instruments. i want clarity. thats where a DAC like this M3 comes in. you wouldnt get that same deep bass that you usually get when you use a Philips or Sony mp3 player pero you will hear honest, close to studio sounding bass lalo na kung maganda ang plugs or headphones mo.
