Puro jazz and blues tayo dito ah (duh?!)... wala masyado discussion ng black gospel and spirituals (1900s to 1950s).  I'm a HUGE fan of this kind of music: from spirituals sung unacompannied in the field or in church, the jubilee and 'hard gospel' style of quartets, to harrowing performances by Blind Willie Johnson and other 'slide evangelists'.


Here are some short clips of me playing some spirituals with a bottleneck on my Tricone.  :-)

Heto pa isang bago, Po' Boy Long Ways From Home. Sorta spiritual but definitely from the same well of traditional black folk music.
