It's not a power trip. More often than not, it's an exercise in patience, restraint and impartiality.

The way I personally perceive being a moderator is being a steward to the community. We are not placed here for power, but rather we are placed here to serve.

ayan si idol!.. :-D dpat hindi for power.. :) wala pa namana kong nakikitang mod na lumalabag sa rules at ina abused ang power niya :)

How can someone be a forum moderator?
« Reply #63 on: December 28, 2009, 11:02:32 PM »
I'm just curious.  :-D

And are there available spaces for another one? (not saying I want to become one, but hey, if possible.  :-D)

We look at the forumer's contribution over time and try to evaluate his levelheadedness, which is a primary consideration for moderating this forum. Even recommendations for mods by other forumers are scrutinized carefully before we pass judgment.

So the longer you have been a Philmusic Forumer, the more feasible na maging moderator ka?

Level headedness is the more preferred trait rather than longevity. One can be a forumer from day one but without fair judgment and a good grasp of knowledge of the forum you are modding in, then no amount of seniority will guarantee that you become a moderator.

I've heard of PhilMusic Moderators that got on the nerves of some forumers. Is that okay?

+1 on this! you should also know how to command respect from your peers as well by interacting in a fair manner.. try to help out not just the newbies, but also long-timers who seek certain answers or information since it would not benefit only the forumer who asked the question in the first place, but also other forumers who had the same question in mind. try to quell any arguments ASAP by acting as a middle man and not "add fuel to the flame" so to speak.. one need not be a moderator to make the community better in the first place. if one has discipline, it would rub off eventually to the people you interact with and before you know it, you have a peaceful self-policing community. hope it helps out as well! cheers!
