Double Strokes...

I also play the accent on the first stroke most of the time.  Playing the accent on the second stroke seems like a good thing to practice.  I should try working on that...

Thomas Lang sure has a killer double stroke.  And I like the fact that he can effectively use it around his kit.

I'm currently working on my Moeller strokes, and everything seems easier to do when applying its motions.  The second stroke accent on doubles reminds me of shuffles.

Hmm.. ok...

Lagi bang doubles yun?

Yes!  Pwede ang Moeller technique sa matched grip.  Steve Smith demonstrated it in his instructional DVD.

Paano?  How you do it with the right hand, it's the same with the left.

Regarding shuffles... There's a double-stroke application on many famous shuffle grooves.  For example, with Jeff Porcaro's Rosanna groove, the right hand is actually playing double strokes on the hi-hat.

Hehehe... Yan tuloy kinakapa ko pa.

I think simple lang naman yung moeller.

Sabi nga ni Papa dom, whipping motion sa wrist, let go of the stick. yun na yun.

There's also this YouTube video upload of Tony Royster Jr. explaining the Moeller technique, which was taken from his Pure Energy instructional video.  He explained it pretty well without being over-technical.  Search for it.

sa akin.. you let it bounce but at the same time bigyan mo ng konting pressure from your finger. that way even ang tunog ng 1st and second bounce.

Emphasized yung second stroke.

Hello Drummers! just a simple question... do u guys play double strokes accenting on the first or second stroke? i watched creative control by thomas lang and he accents on the 2nd stroke. it sounds better when played at a faster tempo.

just wondering if u guys do the same thing... thnks.

I practice my doubles in different ways..  accenting the first stroke, accenting the second, accenting both, no accents..

Para mas may patutunguhan yung practice mo, get a good book!  I suggest Stone's "Stick control" & "Accents and Rebounds"  &  Joe Morello's "Master Studies."

Enjoy!   :)
