The Pearl, is like any brass shell snare, but a bit dryer, which gives it a woody sound. Sample clip of it in action here:
I like the Pearl better because it's sounds bigger (dahil sa depth). I'm leaning towards deeper snares nowadays. Looking into to getting one that's 10" deep.
I use the Pearl in almost all gigs, the Ludwig sa bahay or sa low-volume gigs. Or depends sa mood (hehe).
Bro inigo... Nice drums! I just noticed your Pearl drum's badge. It is indeed mis-spelled as "HAMMERD"! Any idea or story on how Pearl overlooked that detail? Maybe that would make it a more valuable drum. 
Weird enough, I think misspelling it is normal for this series. I found this a Yahoo online auction:
