haha pwede.

alam ko may nag sabi na dati na pwede mg targa speakers.

I have a raul quesada tube amp head na gusto ko lagyan ng 4x12 setup kaso di ko kaya ang bumili ng speaker cab na mahal so im looking for an alternative.

I also have a 100 watts kaman tube amp as well, same scenario.

Gagamitin ko sa studio at sa paminsan minsan na underground gigs sa amin kung saan ang requirement lang naman ay malakas at pang basagan. haha.

nakagamit na ako ng ng crown for both of these amp heads. pwede naman at malakas.

tsaka punk and hardcore gigs na yun.

problema ko lang since bago sa tube amp mga batang banda, on and off ang ginagawa at hindi standby. hahaha. kaya need mo sabihan.

on topic:

sana may list ng ng mga locallly available brands and models dito para hanapin na lang sa raon kung sakali.

maganda din kung may nagbebenta na. haha.

I did some minor research (during work hours..yeah im sorry):

a typical guitar speaker should have the following specs
frequency range: 80Hz to 6000Hz or 75Hz to 5000Hz (depende sa article na nabasa ko)
sensitivity: 92db-102bd (>96db maganda na daw)

after looking up CROWN's product list, I found the model PA-1230 to be the closest to these specs
CROWN PA-1230
Power: 300W <----is this too much? most guitar speakers I've see only have a mx power handling of 100W
Impedance 8Ω
Sensitivity 98dB/W/M <---lagpas 96db. good!
Frequency Response 50Hz - 5KHz  <---mukhang kukulangin sa lower frequencies
Magnet Dimension (mm) 140x20
Voice Coil Diameter 49.5 Ø
Size 12"

medyo worried lang ako dun sa power handling nya na napaka-taas at 300W

most guitar speakers kasi nasa 30W, 75W to 100W lang

Check the frequency response chart. Pag hifi speaker the graph is flat, pag guitar speaker may mid frequency bump.

Eto example ng sa Vintage 30

10" cost around 350 back then. Same specs as celestion g10l 35 but 8 ohms instead of 16.

12" cost around 480 back then. No idea on the specs though.

Way back 2006. You can check this thread http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=16183.0 for more info. Try calling deeco in Raon first. Dai-ichi also has instrument speakers available. Cost around 700 that time.

I remember, me and my dad salvaged an old PIGGY BASS Amp, and it was really beat up but still works..

he managed to have the speaker reconed sa raon from some guy who set up shop along the street...and my dad redid the upholstery changing the tolex to some grey speaker carpet..bought some corner plastic guards...its still working..though Im not sure if they brought it when we moved house recently..haha

its not that high fi as newer bass amps with all the nice frequencies pronounced, walang kalansing (na trip kong sound for a bass amp) but it does the trick for our jams of yesteryear..

I also remember when we were starting out..I got so obsessed with those cheapo ROTO amps and Drumset..a kit was like 6,000 php..and we wanted to set up a jamming studio with my bro..and I was really bummed kasi di mabili..as 6k was too big for our budget.. but you know how these stuff are..really "obscure barrio combo/ or overpass blind man playing guitar " quality and specs...

hahaha...

luckily we ended with a Fernando kit...from JB Cubao...which was 10x better...

I remember the sex toys they sell sa sidewalks

yeah! the classic "pilik mata ng kambing"...all there... was quite familiar with quiapo since my grandma was a black nazarene devotee and my uncle worked in a bank near the bridge where they sold those capiz and handicrafts..
well anyway... one time I drove our shiny new Vespa over there under the heat of the sun just wearing a sando, shorts and slippers...and was freaking afraid where to park the damn thing safely!

the speaker guys over there can rewind and recone fast and cheap... haha been there 4-5 years ago to checkout the photography area, hidalgo ba yun?! haha

ahhh...good old Manila... and of course..those freaking seedy, hanky panky Art Deco Movie Houses! hahaha  bought a lot of stuff there, bmx, bike stuff, military surplus gear, and music stuff..

hmmm come to think of it..lahat ng trip ko sa hobbies ko..nandun na pala lahat...

except the seedy movie houses though! hahahahahahaha

buhay pa yung mga ROTO? the bass amp stayed with me for a while. i think dai-ichi young speakers nun na 15s.
and since the heads are [not too] bad, the speakers sounded dead a bit.

Consider the Dai-1chi IS series instrumental speakers. Its not a big secret that Dai-1chi is an OEM for Celestion, and this series is most likely similar.

Take a look at the frequency response of the Dai-ichi IS12000 12".  Emphasis on 80Hz-5000Hz, with roll-off on the low bass and treble frequencies.  Just right for guitars.

Though I like the frequency response graph of the IS10000 10" better.  Smoother on the upper midrange, and no spikes on the treble.

I'm pretty sure they're not as cheap as the brands mentioned earlier, but at least its not hit-and-miss.  With the response graphs above, there is good indication that its fit for guitars.

magkano sa dai ichi sir?

thanks sa suggestions.

wala ako makitang IS2000 sa list nila:

http://www.daiichielectronics.com.ph/dragonspeakers.html

at PA 1220 sa site ng crown:

http://www.daiichielectronics.com.ph/dragonspeakers.html

ang tataas ng wattage ng mga yan. i have 2 100watt tube amps and 2 solid state bass amps na 100watts din na gusto ko paresan ng mga speakers na to for underground/diy gigs lang.

i plan to go for 2x12, 4 x12 or 4x10s sa cabinets para malakas.

from what i understand, ohms ang dapat na chinecheck instead of wattage kung sa compatibility di ba?

i plan to put them on custom cabinets like these:

well inalis ko na gamit. nasisira ako sa local community since ako din gumagawa ng mga events for "legit" establishments. bad for business, good for fun. haha. imagine me handling a bar with girls. but yeah it was fun. but again not good if you want to establish a scene.

yep, im planning a warehouse bar. sana sana sana.

Napadaan ako sa DEECO Farmers Plaza kanina. 895 pesos yung Crown PA-1220.

saan po nga pala sa farmers plaza ung DEECO? its been a looooooooooooooong while since I visited cubao (cubao yun right?)

meron rin kaya sila nung PA-1230?

im thinking of mixing up a crown PA-1220 and a PA-1230 in my 2x12 cab.

ok naman. tunog patok jeep sa cubao \m/ boom-bag-boom-boom!

tunog guitar amp naman. di ko na matandaan tunog nung vintage 30s ko dati pero parang mas darker tong combination na to...more on the low mids side sya. unlike the vintage 30s na nasa high mids. but then again, I really don't know what i'm talking about. basta tumutunog and it sounds ok, im happy. #squattertones #baraganmetal

thats the thing, i use PA speakers back in 1998 and the tone was ok when i was jamming with a stereo, very bassy and boomy but it doesnt cut through the mix

anyway i love eminence speakers but i still like to try different alternatives out there, so i emailed parts express and they have these

http://www.parts-express.com/pr12gs50-8-12-guitar-speaker-8-ohm--299-357

http://www.parts-express.com/pr10gs50-8-10-guitar-speaker-8-ohm--299-358

i just bought a pair of studio 7 12" guitar speakers for 30$ shipped, so ill see how those sound

Ya pag PA speakers, hi-fi ang orientation nya, so full range of frequencies. Sounds bassy kapag guitar ang ginamit. Sa guitar kasi hindi importante ang full-range, emphasis lang on mids.

saw a lot of these at raon kaso di nakasulat ung specs kaya di ko na-chineck out

btw, about the price, I got my crown and dai-ichi in a shop about mid-way through raon...mas malapit sa bukana, mas mahal. here are the prices:

crown pa-1230 (I got it 1k. sa shop na mas malapit dun sa bukana, 1.4k)
dai-ichi isi2000i (I got it 1.5k)

I could have explored the area more para makahanp ng cheaper price kaso medyo 6:45pm na nun and gusto ko nang tumakbo sa binondo at kumain sa dongbei.

Found this:
"Guitar drivers typically have a high Fs (resonate frequency) and low mass cones to produce high SPLs but with poor low bass response."

Here:
http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=415849

I haven't tried and I don't know for sure, but while the EQ might help in cutting some low frequency (or adding highs), the high mass of the hi-fi speaker cone may have an effect of smoothened highs.

A-B na kasi.

Got a JH 105 and a PA1250. Ok lang, cost me less than 3k for both. Nothing spectacular but it can get you through a gig in case your stock speaker blows up.
