John Mayer Signature Amp...
« on: January 22, 2007, 08:25:17 AM »
I was curiosly browsing for demos and clips on EVH's new Frankenstein amp and came upon this clip of John Mayer's upcoming Two-Rock Signature amp. The guy's been using a lot of different Fender amps over the course of his career and as in demand as he is as a guitarist and top selling act, I suspected it was only a matter of time someone would snag ém to promote a Signature amp.

Love the clean sound on this amp head...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSM3FL7zUdw

dunno about that....wonder how the neck plays...the guy has big hands with long fingers...wouldn't work for me. The EJ strat though plays beautifully but the neck feels sticky.

more info about this amp:

John had a lot of input in the production of this amp. The tone is derived from a couple of his favorite amps on the road: a Fender Vibro King and an Overdrive Dumble. Since John favors the clean channel on his amps most of the time (he says he is always on the clean channel and adds grit via a TS808), he wanted an amp that had the chimey character of the Vibro King and the recording reliability of the Dumble.

the EJ's pretty sticky nga.. probably because of the vintage tints.. the other RI's that they have are pretty sticky too.. but i haven't had the chance of playing the john mayer sig.. hmmm.. it comes with a soft case.. so much for a guitar that costs that much..  :-)

is the amp on the two rock site already?..

i agree, the EJ signature Strat's neck is quite sticky. i've tried several EJs and ganun lahat eh but i think it'll wear off din in time if you get to use it frequently. but the feel is great :)

ganda talaga ng Two-Rock JM amp..

slightly off topic but I heard that some fender customs and even the EJ strat has a different coat other than nitro in it thats why it's feels sticky, they say it's coated with nitro plus something else. got this info from another forum (gearpage). one guy was complianing that his strat still feels sticky after gigging everyday 5 days a week for 2 years and still the neck on his strat still looks sparkling new and he wanted a more relic look.

Actually If I know it correctly, thats a custom shop guitar (custom) not a Rory G. Check the relic patterns and the tuners for easy reference.
