Welcome pare, I've been reading a lot on this diet both on forums and blogs. so far so good. pinaka effective na "low-cost" (as compared to atkins, southbeach). I want to know kung meron sa mga kaforum natin ang gumawa or gumagawa nito ngayon. i'll be trying this out soon eh. :D

Teka delikado ang too much protein. Puede ka magkaroon ng kidney problema.

I read testimonies from the diet takers in forums, blogs and other reading materials.

So far wala namang long term side effect kasi hindi naman pure protein forever eh. the pure protein stages take around 6-7 days longest. after that you incorporate everything into the equation.

all diets subscribe to this formula

calories in = calories out -- you will maintain your weight
calories in > calories out -- you will gain weight
calories in < calories out -- you will lose weight

so eat anything you want, as long as you keep that formula in mind.

Hello Guys,

I auditioned this diet last week. Now, if you've been reading up on this topic, the DUKAN Diet is a diet that consists of 4 phases. The first phase of the DUKAN Diet consists of an all protein diet coupled with a couple of spoonfuls of OAT BRAN (Which I thought wasn't important, ill get to that later). I was thinking, how hard could it be? its all meat, eat all you can! so here was my experience on a failed ATTACK PHASE (Phase 1 of the DUKAN Diet)

Preparation:
I bought a butt load of food. mainly Beef, Chicken and Fish. I bought Lean Beef, Chicken Breasts and Tilapia from SM. and then I bought seasonings na allowed as per the list of allowed foods for DUKAN Diet.
I was thinking this was gonna be easy. Note that I didn't get the OAT BRAN.

Starting Weight: *17 Pounds (let's keep it a secret)

The Dukan Calculator tells me that I have to be on the Attack Phase for 6 days, with an expected initial loss of 6 lbs. (google the dukan calculator. its free!)

And then I started! Here we go!

Day 1

Breakfast: TUNA (Chunks in Water only, 1 can)
Lunch: 1/2 Roast Chicken
Dinner: Chicken Breast with Curry Rub

Observations: I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE EASY. its really hard. by noon I was already craving for carbs. I staved that off by drinking black coffee with no sugar. meat tastes the same so you have to creative.

Day 2

Breakfast: Chicken in Turmeric Stirfry (just a dab of oil)
Lunch: seared Lean Beef strips with peppercorns
dinner: Chicken rubbed with chili powder and salt.

Observations: Holy Crap. it took like, 2 minutes to empty my PISS Tank. yes, I pissed a lot! :O must be the body's response to the protein.

for some reason, I stepped on the weighing scale, and I lost 2.7 pounds! :O Pretty sure this is water weight, but still, it was promising.

whew. Today, the Carb cravings were much worse. I really wanted to get a spoonful of rice. but I managed to pull it off today.

Day 3

Breakfast: Ground Round in Garlic Pepper and Red EGG
Lunch: Ground Round in Garlic Pepper + hardboiled egg
Dinner: Fried Chicken Breasts

Observations: I lost another pound this morning. so thats a total of 3.7 pounds. very promising. Today, the carb cravings was just too much. I gave in an ate some yogurt just to get me by. no no no no.

Day 4

Breakfast: Tuna Chunks + Eggs
Lunch: Chicken Fillet marinated in Soy
Dinner: Tilapia Fillet in Soy

Observations: Ouch. The Yogurt! :| it had me gain .5 lbs! so thats a total loss of 3.2 lbs on day 4. Carb Cravings are not helping. I ate a piece of Biko... </3

Day 5

Breakfast: Tilapia
Lunch: Grilled chicken breasts

BAM! I gave in for dinner. I couldnt take it anymore. I was going crazy for the carbs, so, I went to KFC for a helping of friend chicken and rice... :( I failed... <3

Observations: it's the Carb Craving that kills you, and this is what made it difficult for me because I didn't get the OAT BRAN. I read up on the diet during the weekend and apparently, the OAT BRAN is a non negotiable as it's gonna be your source of fiber, and at the same time, it will be the closest you can get to sugar/carbs (i.e. Carb craving? take a spoonful of OAT BRAN)

BUT WAIT! i didn't entirely fail! after the 5 day stintm, i lost a total of 3.2 pounds. and so far, up to today, it's still off! :O and I haven't been exercising :O (well, except for gigs)

So, next time I try this, (i'm thinking around May) I'm definitely getting the OAT BRAN. plus, that week, I had a lot of occasions to attend to making the diet really hard to adhere to. but so far, on the question of "Does it Work?" I'm gonna say it does work. whew :D

but so far, on the question of "Does it Work?" I'm gonna say it does work. whew :D

no it doesn't. that's 5 days. its silly to judge a diet for only 5 days. i maintained this look for 1 and a half or close to 2 years:

*warning half naked pic ahead*

and now? ... i am freaking size L-XL as opposed to size M on that pic. diets that require willpower NEVER work.

i actually was thinner than that pic above, but i dont have those old pics anymore ... i have lots of experience losing 20 lbs and getting them all back after a few months.

anyway, what i did to get the physique above was:

1.) no sweet drinks, only coke zero for the occassional treat
2.) no fried food or anything related to that. ZERO
3.) veggies and fruits everytime i feel hunger pangs.
4.) running 5-8k for a minimum of 5 days a week (i stopped cause my knees were beginning to feel the abuse)
5.) controlled portions of white rice and bread

in no way did i control my portions the way your current diet is. what you are doing is starvation, and if you are having that much trouble in 5 days, you wont last 3 months with that.

the reason why i cant do those 5 things above currently is because i am very unmotivated. i still work out regularly, but my diet is just plain crazy. Mall establishments love me now compared to back then lol cause when i had that body, i avoided mall food like a plague

Hey man, that's the thing, I didn't even get to finish Phase 1. but as far as the claims of losing during the 1st phase are concerned, I'm saying that it does.

HOwever, I do suggest you read on the diet mechanics as its not a starvation diet as you say. YOu can actually eat as much as you want, provided that its on the list of allowed foods. i didn't include my portion sizes in my post, but I ate a lot. again. A LOT. hahahaha

its just that I didn't really follow the guidelines and just went straight to try it out hence the failure. I've a lot of friends who swear by this diet.

It doesn't promise you instant weight loss, it actually promotes a healthy eating habit once you start with phase 2.

THe 5 points you posted above are basically what happens on phase 3 of this diet. again, you are correct in saying that its all about controlling intake and exercise.

The diet, as I observed, just helps you correct your incorrect eating habits and making you lay off sugar and carbs (at the first stages) but once you're over the 1st stage, you're back eating normal food, just not the bad ones.

I really encourage you to read more on this topic, though I don't think you need to seeing you're already fit! hahahaha

I tried this wayback late 2013 to 2014. I did lose weight as much as 10 lbs in a week. However I stopped this diet coz I think it stressed out my kidney since puro protein eh and too much protein is bad not just for the kidney but could also produce too much liver enzymes. There was a time na nakakaramdam na ko ng sakit sa tagiliran and pati pagwiwi may konting pain. And parang laging walang energy. Tas I felt so deprived. And also nagstandstill yung paglose ng weight after ilang weeks, sa umpisa lang talaga kala mo drastic ung weight loss. Iba din kasi talaga may exercise kaso I feel so drained kasi wala nga akong carb intake. So I stopped this diet and just decided to eat healthy stuff in controlled portions..at first hahaha. Haha too bad napasobrahan sa healthiness ngayon haha so I am planning to do more activities like running and mountain climbing again, since I have put these loves of mine in a long hiatus. Good luck sa akin. :) :-D
