Speed or 4-Way Independence?
« on: April 15, 2007, 01:43:32 AM »
Which one do you think is more important to your drumming as of now?

How are you working on it? :-)

for me, 4-Way Independence! it can help you execute tastier grooves or licks or what ever.. and makes you sound two persons drumming at the same time.. speed comes naturally

cheers!!!

for me 4 way independence it is. Speed comes with a lot of practice, so is 4 way rin naman pero if you can master 4 way independence, mas maganda kakalabasan kapag nagconcentrate ka na sa speed kasi you can execute chops and licks much juicier.

Thanks for the replies,guys!

Pinapraktis ko kasi ngayon yung mabilis single strokes around the kit.

4-way for me! speed will come with control of the limbs, and developing a good balance on all limbs will bring forth... SPEED. haha.

as of now, i spend a lot of time note reading melodies. parang ung ibang limbs may ginagawang constant thing tapos may series of melodies to be played by another limb. at the same time, i also sing the melodies, click, patterns etc. kaya parang ung head mo another limb na rin. so 5-way na. haha.

OT: meron, hobby band, medyo rock genre namin e. haha.

but i play a lot of jazz which, believe me, really improves your limb independence. siguro mga 3 years na akong nagjajazz (old school jazz nga lang, doon nasanay e, haha. pero bata pa ako, promise) and ang laki ng inimprove ng independence skills ko.

after an hour of searching, nakita ko pala ung book ko, its called "THE NEW BREED", i think sa yupangco ko nabili mga 2 years ago. really good book that teaches independence and coordination, time, groove and note reading all at the same time. :-)

Thanks for the reply,bro.
