aside from the guitar itself, there are also other factors to consider if you are really after that kind of sound.. amps are a big factor.. strings.. player.. etc..

A lot of sunburst strats are made of ash to show off the grain. AFAIK micsis' 70's strat is ash, and I really like its tone - full of bite and very responsive.

in my opinion. ash sounds alot brighter than alder..

Yung mga orig na 54-56 strats ata ay Ash. Since mas maganda ang grain ng ash, mas ginamit sya sa Telecasters dahil ang finish ng Telecaster ay Butterscotch Blonde or White Blonde and Strats are Sunbursts. So sometime in 56, they changed it to Alder. Mas kita ang wood grains sa blonde finish although i’ve seen videos and pics of sunburst ash strats na sobrang pronounced ang ash woodgrain. (Info thanks to this video below)
So yes...ok lang ang Ash bodied strat and yes...andun pa rin ang strat sound na hinahanap mo. :)

Sound-wise, Ash is awesome.
My only problem is the weight of some Northern Hard Ash and Sen samples. I have a custom Strat with a hard ash body that's as heavy as my MIJ Les Paul Custom copy. On the other hand, I have another Strat with a Swamp Ash body, which is pretty light.
