Sobrang gayang gaya nga yung tone! Kahit yung boses, alam mong ginagaya talaga.
Ok lang sana yung riffs, understandable kasi ganun talaga ang blues, pero yung tone at boses, sobrang ripoff na.

mismo. kaya feeling ko kung natatawa yung ibang tao sa influence ni john. mas nakakatawa tong isang to since ni rip off talaga.

as for JM he made his own tone, plus the style mixed with bbking (my favourtie), jimi, srv, buddy guy, clapton etc. with his own style.

Yeah, lots of SRV influence on those songs. But I think the guy is mighty talented. There are thousands of SRV wannabes out there and this guy's the only one who got really close, IMO.

Ever heard of Bleu Rascals? Pinoy din tong mga to. Tumugtog na sila sa International Blues competition sa Memphis, at sila pala nanalo sa blues part ng Cotai Jazz and Blues Festival.
Sobrang kuhang kuha ng guitarist nila tone ni SRV nung nakastrat pa siya. Boses lang yung pinagiba.
Anyway, imo he is as close as you get to SRV's playing.

Yes, I know Paul personally. Seen them live many times. With all due respect to Paul, he doesnt nail the SRV tone. IMO, of course. His clean tone lacks the Blackface sparkle and breakup. He also uses too much gain.

On local SRV guitar playing...

That would be Kakoy Legaspi for me. This was when he was still a UST college student, he was heavy into blues playing
back then...but given a huge amount of talent from the Man above, he explored other types of music as well.

He went for Joe Satriani in his Elementary days, heard Vaughn and it was all Vaughn.
