NUENDO 4 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! yan lang ang masasabi ko. ilalaban ko ito kahit na anong software on the planet!!!. very clear, warm at maganda ang imaging.. improved daw ang audio engine nito.. 8-)

yep! dati nuendo3, tapos upgrade gamit to profire2626 hindi maganda sa NDO3, kaya nag PT7 ako sobrang linis ng tunog!, tapos na-intruduce ako ni boyet aquino and romeo babao sa NDO4, mas-malinis tunog nya sa profire and ang daling mag edit! pero still using PT for some projects. balak ko na rin mag HD kung meron ng budget.
nga pala dipende sa setting ng SSL pre dito kung warm or matalas yung tunog. dapende din sa mic.
yung problem sa static naranasan ko rin, una sa cable mali-mali hinang, tapos sa setting ng equipment nanibago din ako, last electricity kapag umandar na aircon, elevator, or on ng equipment. nadaanan ko din to. hehehe! buti nalang meron philmusic for 24/7 tech support! hehehe!

nabasa ko comment nung romeo babao sa SSL mic pre (Alpha Track ba model nun?) hehehe astig ah hehehe.. yung mic pre na yun ang noon ko pa gusto kunin saka pinagpipilian ko pa yung Millennia Media kaso ala ng budget.. gamit ko kasi Grace Design 201 para sa vocals. maganda pa talaga yung SSL Alpha track ?? Ok naman ang labas gamit ko Motu HD 192 (multitrack) clear ang recording pero hindi ok ang placement ng sound kaya sa Apogee ako nagmi mix. sorry OT na ito..

Been a cubase user since 3.1. Been a Nuendo user since 1.0. Applications: audio recording and mixing (Cubase), movie post-production (Nuendo).
I use both. The quality and solid operation of either one depends on the installation, plugs that you've got and your hardware specs.

Definitely... BTW it works great on Win 7 64 bit..except Apogee has no drivers for it but the Motu HD sounds better on Win 7 64 with the Motu 64 bit driver
than on Win XP Pro SP2. Also the Mackie Control Universal reacts better on Win 7 64 bit especially the wheel and motorized faders. 8-)

talaga!? upgrade ko na yung pc para magamit na yung extra na 4gb ram! naka vista 32bit ako pero strip down (thanks to sweetwater) ngayon try ko sa win7 64 kung maganda ang flow ng signal. hope meron na din setting sa sweetwater ng win7 64 for music production!

What I'd like to see is Cubase 5 and Macs behaving well together. Marvin has been pulling his hair on this combo for some time now. Maybe Snow Leopard? I don't know...

Maybe for everything else, it is. But for Cubendo... that remains to be seen. I have a nasty feeling it's Steinberg's usual problem... they usually lag behind whenever a new OS comes out, and they take their sweet time releasing bugfixes.

mga bosing im planing to do a basic home studio set up and im planing to buy cubase essential here in japan kaso yung problema ko pauwi ako ng pinas sa march at yung computer ko dito medjo mabagal pwede bang iinstal ko dito tapos pag balik kong pinas bili akong mas bagong cumputer at install ulit yung software. medjo kapos talaga sa budget e. so far yung nabili ko na dito e m audio fast track ultra at sa monitor speaker ko naman e cakewalk ma.15 need advise mga bro since cubase user kayong lahat dito. salamat. ok lng ba kung essential yung bibilhin ko? at by the way magkatulad pala ng presyo dito yung pro tools 8 m powerd at cubase essential. so sa opinion nyo saan mas maganda? thanks po

But since employment possibility is just around the corner so I had to learn Nuendo almost pratically overnight. And now the rest as they say is history. Been sound engineer at Universal Records since 2007.

Yep, ako nga pumalit kay Dante. Pa alipin ako sa kanya mga three weeks prior lipad nya for Guam three years ago (he's back in town though). Train, aral, train, and aral some more. Of course, medyo educated nako on the craft even before I joined Universal Records. But of course also, iba pa rin ung ginagawa mo sa bahay as a hobby and in this environment. The office and studio has moved from caloocan to quezon avenue. Universal Towers, katabi lang ng Parco.

I used to work at 1487 Quezon Avenue... Polycosmic pa dati... wow... great to hear that they have their own studio and building now...
hope some of my old colleagues still there e.g. Malou Moso, Jing Chung, Gesmond, my boss Philip Dy, and etc... pasyal mo nga ako ulit dyan kigwa... bisaya bitaw ta pareho... makita lang ulit... i miss it really... best times in my life... hahaha si Pong andyan pa? hhehehe

Nuendo 4 user here..Dante Tanedo? i met him a long time ago sa studio ni Jimi Antiporda..isa sa mga idol ko sa recording at nagbigay ng interest sa recording technology.. one thing i can say he is a GREAT GUY and always ready to help and teach. 8-)

If you lose it, you have to buy a new license plus the dongle, which costs as much as buying new software (the dongle itself is cheap, but the license...).

sa likod ng CPU ilagay para di matabig. yung iba kasi nakikita ko sa keyboard na meron usb or harap ng CPU kinakabit. pag ganoon para kang nag motorbike kalahati ng buhay nasa hukay. kaya sabi ni john lloyd INGAT! HEHE!

Better option is to buy a usb extender cable, kahit .5 meters or shorter. That way, di mababali ang dongle pag natamaan. Others use powered hubs for easy access, while others go to the extreme of fixing the entension cable inside the casing para di nagagalaw.

started midi sequencing on cubase vst 5! yeah! nuendo seemed the proper upgrade path for production work but the software is too expensive. can't afford eh. buti pa kayo...

di ba pwede sir na magrequest ng USB ulit? ang elicenser ba e kahit wala kang USB makakagamit ka? sa iba kasi tulad ng Avid products. kahit wala ng dongle nagagawa na ngayon e.

yes if you can afford it..costs like 2,000$..the sound is warm and easy to learn.. but if not, stick with Cubase LE 4

Steinberg Cubase 4 full version with all in... usb license, discs, manuals and etc... complete... 20K hows that price... easily upgradable to Cubase 5 if you like...

We have Cubase 5 users here including Marvin and Gerard. C5 works well in pcs but in mac... that's another matter. I've been hearing that Steinberg presently 'hates' the Core i7 technology. Hope it works well with the Mac Pro's Xeons.

sa akin naman sir kitC, baliktad. nahirapan ako maginstall sa PC kaysa sa MAC. pero ok na siya din ngayn. sa MAC kasi one DMG lang e. sa PC kasi iba e. tapos kelangan sunond sunod pa yung DVDs na iloload di pwede interchange. ang ganda ng Pitch Correction.

I think the problem with C5 and macs is Snow Leopard. It's further exacerbated if you use the newer i7 macs, which Gerard says does not work at all. I do know that C5 isn't certified for Win7 either so it's definitely a steinberg issue with present OS and hardware.

Marvin recently acquired his pimped-out 27" iMac which had i7's installed. So far, C5 is behaving nicely. That is one friggin' heavy machine but it is blindingly fast.

Cubase is more on MIDI while NUENDO is more on AUDIO. :-D
Both are good with audio. Nuendo has less midi editing capability but is more oriented towards audio post production. Cubase is quite good for film scoring... check out our animated film coming out soon which was scored using C5.

I agree. I' m excited to see your animated film soon! Looking backward, I mixed R2K(Regine's allbum) and Neocolour's Emerge Album using Cubase 3 (not the SX )11 years ago(1999) and in 2000 I started to use Nuendo 1. Magmula noon, puro Nuendo na ako. I also use Protools but for jingles only not for music audio. I still use Cubase but for music arranging only which is very seldom. Nuendo is my main DAW for music production. I did a lot of albums using Nuendo, this includes Nina Live(CD and DVD 5.1 dolby&DTS versions), 3 Sitti Albums, 5 Side A albums(1 live DVD 5.1 DTS versions), 3 Jed Madela's Album, Christian Bautista Live(CD and DVD dolby&DTS versions)etc.etc. I'm not trying to say that Nuendo is better than Cubase...for me, if u can do your job better or more efficient with Nuendo, or Cubase, or Sonar, or Protools etc...then stick with it! You can try with other DAW but master what you have right now or you'll end up with nothing. Actually, I am starting to study the SSL Sounsdsape 6 because of my new audio interface(SSL MadiXtreme and SSL Xlogic Alpha-Link). More or less iiwan ko ang Nuendo because of Soundscape, it's not because it's better but because of the situation. I'ts also a preparation for old school mixing(analog)...my SSL Matrix mixer is arriving soon at eto yun kamatch ng audio interface. Balik analog ako...kaya wala munang "in the box" mixing na ginagawa ko for the last 10 years. Excited din ako kc prior to digital(1998), 6 years din ako sa analog. I will just use my DAW for playback and recording. Lastly, opinion ko lang, kung saan ka gamay, yun ang gamitin mo. Peace and God bless Cubendo users! :-)

quick question, say i want to set-up a lot tracks in Nuendo 5. is there a way to automatically set the inputs to the consecutive inputs of my interface? (manually assigning 30+ tracks might drive me nuts) also, any other way to arm all tracks for recording in one click besides the "put audio tracks in a folder track" method?

you could always create a template.
also, any other way to arm all tracks for recording in one click besides the "put audio tracks in a folder track" method?
Go into the mixer window and shift select then link the relevant tracks. When you go back to the project window, pressing R on one track will arm/disarm them accordingly.

@Kitc, thanks for the quick reply...I was just thinking there might be an easier way to do it, some other software i used had the function. maybe doing it ahead and saving as a template might be the only way to go for now.

A template is really the only way to go if you want to hit the ground running, recording-wise. I use a template myself for Sonar that opens to a midi/audio project that has all audio and midi tracks configured in such a way that I don't have to waste any time getting started on a new project. If anything, procrastination is my biggest time killer.
Gerard Salonga, for ex., has a Cubase template that contains a huge number of orchestral instruments with several variations per instrument controlled via keyswitching using VST Expressions. Gerard labored on creating that huge template (strings alone looked like 50 tracks to me) and it served as the basis for his score for RPG:Metanoia (have a listen... it IS the best soundtrack of last year's MMFF).

Thanks again bro. I have been looking around the net and so far have come up empty on any tips on how to do this.
im actually just helping someone out, who has to set-up 30+, up to 64 tracks on Nuendo 5 for recording audio simultaneously.
So I guess the only way to do this is open a project, create the tracks, and manually assign all those tracks, then just save as a template...right?
sorry, im a complete steinberg noob. hehe.

I think you can open a blank project and just add tracks. Remember that although you can have as many tracks as your computer can allow, your audio input and output is determined by your interface and how your VST I/O is configured.

Kitc, I was able to set up the interface and i/o's without too much fuss. its just this whole tedious task of assigning 64 ins to 64 tracks thats bugging me. hehehe...TAMAD!!! :-D
