i'm no real dream theater fan but i make sure i have all their cd's.
the music they make is all worth it. sana ganyan kalseng musika ang mahiligan na masa.. ayeyeye!

although lumabas naman talaga si Petrucci sa isang video game (Necrominum ata yon or something).

can't wait for Systematic Chaos to be released. June 5 pa e, tapos sa US pa yon - kelan kaya dito sa Pinas? Baka July na! Tagal!

Ang maganda kay Portnoy pinapakita pa rin nya na tao siya.
Panuorin nyo yung mga live and studio performances.
Minsan may mga parts or accent ng mga songs na alam mong may nakalimutan siyang palo.
And hindi na niya ni-edit for final release.

hehe.. kwento ng guitarist nmin dti si petrucci daw ay gumagawa ng mga guitar sounds na mga pang background song sa mga video games.. kaya pala kung nag gigitara yun para kang nakikinig at naglalaro ng mga video games.. hehe

usually naman pag ni-release na sa Pinas, meron sa mga major record stores - mapaSM, Tower o Music One yan.

Yung Train of Thought ko nga pagkakaalala ko ay sa SM record bar ko nabili - pati ata yung Octavarium. Kung hindi - malamang sa Tower ko nabili. Ang wala lang talaga sa mga major record bars sa atin ay pre-Awake albums ng DT.

speaking of the video-game-esque sounds, yung isa kong kaibigan ay mahilgi sa mga soundtrack ng Jap anime - hmmm, a lot of similarities, esp. sa mga progression. di mo nga lang maiintindihan ang pinagsasabi nila

All of the above. If you're expecting him to have a god like technique of Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, etc. then of course talagang asa pa siya. But he sure do have a technique that works for him and inspired maybe influenced other drummers as well and I think that what made him the drummer/musician he is today.

And not all musicians liked him because only of his drumming.
Remember he is also the man behind DT's and other side project's success. He works well with other musicians.
