Sana maka hanap tayo keyboard player for the All Starr kasi  guitar ang first love din ni Bryan alam ko.
Naks! USap na kayo ni Julius bro, not by songs but by set para wala ng palitan pa instrumento. Kung sakali lang na meron di na mahahabol siprahin(Bass) sabihin na sa Sattelites, the earlier the better.

No such documentations exist. If ever that happened, I would have known.

The only thing that connects Duran Duran from the Beatles would have to be the monicker "Fab Five". Which is a weak connection compared to Duran Duran's connection with Queen. Both their drummers are named "Roger Taylor."

medyo OT na tayo...but anyway, i know both queen and duran duran had a roger taylor but i didn't know they were BOTH drummers.  akala ko yung sa queen lang.  singing drummer din ba yung roger taylor ng duran duran?

talk about coincidence...

BTT,  here's one from wikipedia.

Quote
"Wannabe" debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart at number 11, the highest-ever debut by a British band in the US, beating the previous record held by The Beatles for "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and the joint highest entry for a debut act tying with Alanis Morissette.

...but have these overrated (although nice to look at back in the '90s) ladies placed five songs in the billboard top 5 all in one week?  i don't think so.   :-P

They paid due respect to the late great John Lennon 8-)

Yes, without a shadow of a doubt!

I read in the band's autobigraphy - Walk This Way - that they look up to these two bands as the standard in which they will be judged.

Their set up is very much like the stones especially the working relationship of Tyler and Perry - very much like Jagger and Richards. Gosh they even look like them.

Although they acknowledge that their setup is like the Stones, their songwriting is very much influenced by the Beatles.

Go ahead check out that book and it is very very evident that the evidence of those two bands are all over that book.

For a while they were called either the American Rolling Stones or the Heavy Metal Rolling Stones.

Thriller is the biggest selling album of all time. So I guess that takes away from the Beatles.

Thriller has the most A-side singles in a regular album with 7.

also, michael jackson bought out the lennon-mccartney catalog from paul mccartney in the '80s.  that's why relations between MJ and macca were quite strained for several years...

sorry i just noticed this now...the garage band's set is a bit on the mushy side, so can we swap "till there was you" and "a world without love" with "day tripper" and "drive my car"?  para mas balanced yung sets ng garage band at all-starr band sa part I...

Let's wait for Sirs Bryan & Eman bro for their comments because we have ample number of guitar players who undeniably wants to play fast songs also. And if I could remember it right, Sir Bryan personally suggested Day Tripper together with In My Life while Eman suggested Drive My Car. It just so happened that these two guys are very important in playing Harmonica for Love Me Do, Please Please Me & I Should Have Known Better and piano solo (Bryan) for In My Life.

Anyway, we are willing to play that one mushy song Till There Was You hence we have this Alternate Set List, considering the number of days left for us to rehearse etc. and the manpower we presently have.

ALTERNATE SET LIST

Set 1

All Starr Band

1. In My Life
2.  I Should Have Known Better
3. Love Me Do

10.   A World Without Love
11.   Day Tripper
12.   What You’re Doing?

The Broken Sauce Band

13. I Call Your Name

15. I’m Down

SET 2

The Sattelites Band

10.  Let It Be
11.  While My Guitar Gently Weeps
12. My Love

All Starr Band

13. My Sweet lord
14. Something
15. Back in the USSR

Suggested Guitar solo parts for the Finale

Finale: Golden Slumbers(c/o Sattelites)/Carry That Weight/ The End(Bryan, Eman & Julius, Georgie on the last part towards the ending)

we have 45 songs to play and we have 5 groups, so if divide it equally each group will play 9 songs, three each set.

hmmmm...i think i like the alternative set list better.   :-D  though i already gave the boys in the garage band the songs to study from the first list...

just to keep you guys updated, the garage band now has brokensauce's guitarist in its fold.  since i suggested "a world without love", is it okay if we switch it to "i wanna be your man" instead?  and can we do it using the rolling stones' more famous, less "wholesome" arrangement?

saka yung sa meeting naman, i think 4-6pm on saturday would be fine.  the garage band holds its first practice at 6-8pm and hopefully we can come up with a name...

this is a strange suggestion for someone from the south, pero mas gusto ko sa cubao expo.  we can hold the meeting at alan's grill...wag sa mogwai, mas madalas ako dun but i don't think it'll be conducive for this type of meeting.

kung sa MOA naman, masyadong matao, too many distractions.  makati, on the other hand...is a pretty big place, but i don't know of any locations with good enough ambiance and affordable food/drinks where we can discuss the event...

First Official Meeting:

1. Venue- Cubao expo, Allan's Grill
2. Time- 4:00 to 6:oo p.m

over a cup of coffee  where's this place exactly bro? Malapit ba sa Gateway?

sounds good.   :-)  cubao expo is nearer to ali mall...eto yung dating fiesta carnival.  sa tabi ng mga provincial bus stations.  kung familiar kayo sa genre bar, alan's grill is in the ground floor.  more of a beer and filipino food place, though.  dunno the prices of their non-alcoholic beverages...

I guess our attendance tomorrow to our first official meeting will be the determining factor of the success of this endeavour. Complete attendance is highly solicited.

By the way, The Sattelites Band frontman has confirmed attendance. Godspeed

si jojo/the_godfather ng pm?  nice.   :-D  konting trivia...siya yung unang frontman ng brokensauce, pero tulad ko madami siyang banda kaya di na nakapagcommit.  that's how brokensauce evolved into a rock/alternative band with multiple influences rather than a britpop-influenced band.   :-)  good to know he'll be joining us!

nga pala, ok lang kung isama ko ang girlfriend ko sa meeting?  don't worry...unlike previous ex's, she's perfectly cool with my being in a band...  :-D

I will be in Cubao tomorrow so I will definitely come at the meeting. Only two problems:

2. Makakarating ako baka mga 4:30 na.

But expect me to be there. Please send me a text message for any info on how to get to the place. Say nasa Gateway ako. By the way, dala ko instrumento so wag kayo magulat kung mukhang hapong hapo ako dumating sa meeting.

May I suggest the following things to be seen bukas
1. Pen and paper
2. The printout of the set list. - the latest draft.

Ok guys here is my mobile number - 09277907155. If you guys have a sun mobile number, text me muna sa Globe ko, then I might reply via Sun.

Let's hope for the best bukas. And may the GOOD LORD bless us all!
