I love this snare! I play more on genres like Funk, Rock and Reggae... and I find it as the perfect side snare... the only problem I have with it is the availability of heads and parts (eg. Snare side head and Snare wires) but... all in all, like how sir drumster says it, Bang for the Buck!
I didn\'t know you can watch dreams in a theater?!

To give you guys an idea on how a 6x10 PDP 805 wood snare drum sounds like, here's a video of a recent gig of my band.  The video was shot by a friend of ours.  The audio quality isn't topnotch, but at least you'll have an idea on how the snare sounds like.  We played our rendition of Just Friends (Musiq); and in that song, I used the 6x10 drum on all the snare backbeats.

Note: The first and last parts of the song are courtesy of one of our singer's beatbox-ing.[/color]

ok talaga pdp side snare...! correction lng sa previous post ko dito re " it tends to be boring when played always..." depende pla yun sa genre.
if ur into hiphop,r&b,soul, dance etc...this little snare is perfect!

i think donati also uses a side snare(ataraxia~Moonbabies)..pearl nga lng ata..firecracker ata tawag dun..

o.t. got to see ser dio play nung sat sa tropezz greenbelt! nahiya nko i-approach. great gig sir! i like your ver of ushers song!

Thanks for watching and appreciating our gig, BiliBidboy!  Nuod uli kayo.  At wag ka mahiya sa akin.  8-)

Yeah that's right!  The 6x10 side snare is not for everybody & not for all musical styles.  But it works really well for certain musical situations.  It's a perfect fit with my band's style of music.

10" snares are generally good for high tuning. hiphop drum programmers really like shifting the pitch of their snare samples, and this is what 10" snares are trying to emulate. tuning your 12" (or larger diameters) snares very high is going to kill the sound of the snare, and is generally not good for the hardware, the shell itself and the head.

in general, 10" snares should feel at home in genres such as r&b, hiphop, drum&bass/ jungle, and 2-step, all of which use very high snare sounds. however, sidesticks are not their best features. those are still best with snares with larger diameters. or, put a groove wedge on it's rim. i have the pdp 805 10" snare as well in my studio, and the sonor 10"x 2" jungle snare (the one with tambourine jingles).

Yup, the wood shell 6x10's are 4K.  The steel shell 6x10's are around 6K.

No doubt, the Black Panther is a better series of snare drums.  If it's at least at the same price range as the 805's, hindi na ako magdadalawang-isip.

Pero syempre dipende pa rin yan sa mga tenga natin.

The PDP heads are not so bad, though they're not as good as Remo's and Evans'.  Mas manipis ang sound quality nya, unlike the leading brands na buong-buo at bilog ang tunog.

The stock PDP batter that came with my 6"x10" 805 snare, it got worn out fast.  Pero okay lang, kasi I was really planning to replace it with better quality heads.

Overpriced ba talaga mga PDP dito? When I sell my old drumset in the future, PDP sana kukunin ko (coz it's the closest I can get to a DW  :-D). Yung MXR sana gusto ko. Matte finish, Rock sizes, then add ako ng 10" tom. Anyone has an idea kung mga magkano aabutin? Kit lang ha, no packaged cymbals.

Isa pa, mahirap ba i-maintain matte kesa lacquer? Matte kasi talaga gusto ko. Besides, LXE/LX are out of the budget I think. Ayoko naman ng FX kasi Birch, I want Maple.
