Recommended cymbals for rehearsal studios
« on: October 01, 2006, 02:26:40 PM »

salamat in advance...

Try mo B8s. I think they're more tougher than ZBTs.

i agree with autoexec but more importantly, i think you should implement rules like hinay-hinay lang ang palo kasi kahit anong cymbals mo kung feeling pogi at superman yung drummer na papalo masisira din yan. i have a s2dio here in LP, planet z na old school yung hi-hat and ride ko tas zbt na crash so far wala pa kong nagiging problema like dents or whatever. it's your studio and that means you are in-charge
if you can't join them, beat them!

di rin ok ang b8, pareho lng sila ng zbt. ung zbt ko tumagal ng 3 months, den ung b8 average eh 3 months lng din (crash). ung ride ng zbt tumagal ng 6 months, ngyon nasa pang 6th month n ung ride na b8 ko, so expect na anytym masisira n rin sya. swerte lng kasi naglabas ang b8 ng package n may libreng isa pang crash, kaya all in all expect n ung isang package n un eh tatagal ng 6 months

Heavy hitter? I wonder kung pano nasira yung ride :?:

malamang heavy hitter si toink, pero sa totoo lng di nadadaan sa lakas ng palo yan... hindi na din economical kung palit ka ng palit ng cymbals from time to time, pitik yung style ko sa drums so mas obvious yung accents and kahit pitik lng malakas pa din yung tunog without worrying about your cymbals. just my two cents worth

nope am not a heavy hitter. i also have a band studio dats why i know the life span of which cymbals when used in a band studio. sadyang madami talagang pasaway, lalo n mga high school kids. unang pasok plng sa studio mag uunahan n sa drums at hahampasin n agad ang cymbals, di nyo b napapansin un? hehe

suggestion ko, and i think this is the best, is to have different kinds of crash cymbals. ako ang ginagawa ko, kapag magaling ung band na tutugtog, nilalagay kong crash is ung maganda, kapag band n pwede na, ilalagay kong crash eh ung b8, den kapag high school kids, nilalagay ko ung sira kong crash or ung extra na ride ko. in dat way, mas makakatipid ka. magjajam prin nmn ung mga high school kids khit 2 rides ung nakalagy instead of 1 ride and 1 crash di ba? :)

mga sir, have you tried the ZBT Rock?akin kasi is ZBT 4 pro, comparing the specs w/ ZBT rock, ZBT rock is 2 steps heavier (i.e. crash of pro is medium thin while that of rock is medium heavy).

sir toink, how much kaya ung crash ng paiste rude?

salamat!

also being a rehearsal studio owner, gusto ko lang mag share ng experience ko with cymbals...

ZBTs will not last definitely, specially crash and hihat. lalo na planet Z.
so far, eto ang mga nag last na cymbals na nagamit ko...
Scimitars, a year na yung hihats...the ride must be indestructible, grabe naman pag na-crack pa nila to...yung 16" crash gave out in 8 months ata.
a good idea para sa crash ay gumamit ka ng 18" crash ride, yung scimitar or edge ay ok at matibay, yung gamit ko na edge 18" almost half a year na, too early to say kung tatagal, pero makapal sya. i expect it to last at least a year...also, tip sa hihats...yung bottom ang lagay mo sa taas...mas makapal yun...less prone to cracking...alam ko out of production na yung iba dito...so good luck na lang mag-hanap...

i havent used B8s, cant comment on them...but since they're readily available, they're a good option.

also, clean them regularly. yung mga sweaty hands grabe mag corrode...imagine ilang kamay humahawak sa cymbals mo in a day...para hindi kainin ng corrosion yung edges...

oh, another thing i do is to never mount the cymbals too tightly..para free siya mag sway pag pinapalo...

hope any of these helps... :D

Hey Duane! Wassaf?!

10 hr drive din from mla.

mga bosing salamat sa mga tips ninyo.

how about the angle of inclination ng cymbals, any suggestion kun mas mainam na horizontal placement or me konting inclination para maiwasan din keyholes.
