here's a video of vic mercados'(bamboo) drum teacher here in iloilo city,when he was learning how to be an awesome drummer(as he is today).he's kinda "old school" (haven't touched the kit in almost 5yrs).

magaling talaga yan.yun nga lang di na nag e-ensayo at nag re-research.
malamang talaga na dun nya na pulot yung mga kaliwete licks nya.
nung nag jam kami ni nathan(bamboo)dito noon nung nasabi ko na teacher ni vic
yung drummer namin,di na sha nag taka kung bakit may similarity.

For me...Vic Mercado is right now the best drummer in the industry...but still Harley Alarcon is still the best there is or was(i think he's not here anymore)....

Yeah ever since I saw him play before, tulo na laway ko kay vic. But then again, I remember meeting harley sa Mayrics dati. I was a certified super fan as I approached him and asked him for an autograph. He just laughed at my "fan-like" attitude since I think I was 18 back then. Really nice guy. I just bought my double pedal that time so I had him sign on the printed paper attached to the pedal. Small talk after that and he even introduced me to this girl he was with hehehe those are the times I'll definitely won't forget.

Very wide vocabulary. great improviser. My qualms lang: he really tends to overplay live.

Sobrang compressed sa records. Sayang ang nuances (you should hear him warming up!). Para tuloy nilalakasan niya all the time.

I know him personally(we"re from the same province) Ganun talaga trip nyang tunog. He's into that old Weckl Chick Corea EB drum mix kasi.

We've jammed a lot of times and malakas talaga pumalo si Vic.

he's a great drummer with steady grooves. he could make an old song
