Title: Can I put you guys on a rumour?

A major musical instrument retailer is about to distribute a very big and popular brand of guitars previously distributed locally by another retailer. The brand is legendary that every store wants to stock some of those brands even to the point of selling fakes just to put some class into their stores.
Sadly the retailer who now distributes it will almost certainly lose its raison d'etre!

Best thing to happen is: Makuha ng audiophile ang FENDER from yupangco, mababa kasi mag patong ang audiophile ang yupangco ang taas magpatong. sample, yung mga dating gator hard case na 3.8k sa audiophile naging 6k sa yupangco / perfect pitch / yamaha. pag nangyari to sigurado mag mumurahan mga fender dito sa pinas under AP. sana mangyari to :)
Worst thing to happen is: Mapunta sa Yupangco/Perfect Pitch/Yamaha ang mga ibanez at di marzio from audiophile right now sobrang fair ng prices ng di marzios at ibanez sa AP halos pareho nga talaga ng mga prices sa mga online stores sa amerika. pag napunta to sa yupangco sigurado magmamahalan ng husto tong mga to yung mga dati sigurong RG sa AP na worth 19k magiging 25k-30k. this is really bad :(
kung mapunta sa JB ang fender ok lang rin nag se sale naman sila at 0% installment at pag nag sale naman sila talagang todo baba yung prices pareho ng prices sa mga online stores sa US.
Kung ibanez naman ang mapunta sa JB ok lang rin atleast makaka pag 0% installment na ng ibanez wala kasi sale at 0% installment ang audiophile
TS may tama ba sa hula ko ? hehe

yupangco used to sell epiphone/gibson
some stores right now are selling FAKE EPIPHONES
which brings me to the conclusion that jb/audiophile will get to retail said brand...
ofcourse this is just a deduction from the clues you've given...

i totally agree na maganda talaga ang pricing scheme ng audiophile kaya lang ang consequence din nito as bihira sila mag-offer ng promo (i.e., sale, installment, etc.). yun lang ang downside.

This line alone is already a give away. Ibanez yan for sure. And Ibanez din ang may pinakamaraming copy or fakes na lumabas.

madami din fake na fender hehe mas nauna pa nga pekein ang mga fender 70's pa lang may mga peke ng fender dito sa pilipinas hehe, saka mas madaming legends ang gumagamit ng fender right ? ang ibanez usually puro modern rock artist ang endorser at gumagamit di siya masasabing legendary hehe. tingin ko eto yung fender na mapupunta na sa JB. Last year na chismis na to dito sa forum at minsan na punta ako ng JB megamall last year din, tinanong ko sa isang sales clerk oo daw may hinihintay na lang daw sila. hanggang sa nakalimutan ko na ang tagal kasi hehe mukhang matutuloy na kawawa naman ang yupangco pag natuloy to nakuha na nga ng JB ang Pearl drums mula sa kanila makukuha pa fender hehe ang tataas kasi masyado patong. kahit yung line 6 products nila sobrang insane ng patong. yung line 6 UX2 USB na worth 150$ lang sa US 10k+ sa yamaha :-o

if this really is the case then I wonder what will happen to yupangco since they're known for selling fenders/squiers.

Imagine, pag may nakita kang 600usd guitar online na dala rin ng JB, ang regular price nun sa JB ay 45k. Tapos ang sale price nila ay nasa 32k. Ganun din. Marketing crap.

Yup. Mismo. Pakiramdam ko pa mas maalaga sa gitara ang AP kesa JB. Pag sa JB mapupunta ang Fender, naku, ang sikip na ng mga branches niyan. Dadami gitara at amp eh ang liliit ng pwesto.

kelangan ng guerilla target marketing:
Intelligent and very attractive sales agents on coffee meetings with doctors, lawyers, etc. Parang yung mga agents ng PGA Cars. At least thats how I would move them off the shelves. Making sales calls to targeted potential leads instead of waiting for musicians to visit the showroom. This way JB can keep their distribution, for the benefit of the real musicians who need to time to save up for the LP's.....

actually pare i am an employee of one of the computer stores in Gilmore area and sometimes i want to suggest to my boss na if we can try to sell music softwares (guitar softwares or recording softwares, etc), but...i still don't have the guts, hindi kasi kami close hehehe :-D

1. It is a very wild rumour - kaya ayaw kong maglagay ng lantarang detalye - please bear in mind.
2. It is still distributed as I write this - I don't want to disrespect the distributor.

I think there is a slight typo... it may be 647.7mm, not 644.7mm. 647.7mm=25.5inches, which is the traditional Fender scale length. Ramon Jacinto is a music legend, and was once a politician, and the dude likes his Fenders. My guess is Fender to RJ.

I wouldn't have guessed this... but seems like a good deduction. Pero I don't think their (now) general manager is capable of moving a product like this off their shelves. On 2 of their branches they were selling Fenders from RJ's personal collection and you won't even notice it because its layered in the pile of RJ's and some of their managers don't even know how to play guitar (admittedly). Last I heard RJ's already bleeding money in the chain of stores, but who knows the recent sale of UR could bring out cash they can play around with...

RJ just became liquid this 2011. His property company and PNB have resolved their court conflicts... PNB gets the prime lots, while RJ gets a cash settlement. This plus the recent inventory clearance sale is the perfect opportunity to introduce Fender to their product portfolio.
Although I do agree that their retail operations is not very well designed to move products efficiently.

RJ retailed some Fenders during the 90's. The stores even retailed some Gibson's and Ibanez. And they were the lowest in terms of pricing!

I think there is a slight typo... it may be 647.7mm, not 644.7mm. 647.7mm=25.5inches, which is the traditional Fender scale length. Ramon Jacinto is a music legend, and was once a politician, and the dude likes his Fenders. My guess is Fender to RJ.

Matagal na yung Fender Ventures na yun, there was a time nandun pa yan sa RJ Factory sa San Juan and sabi nga ni Bayani it was for sale pero wala daw mabigay na presyo kasi walang binilin na presyo si RJ. And to confirm from Bayani, these were the old stocks they had from the mid 90's. New Old Stock (NOS) ika nga. Kaya if you see some Fenders that they have, these were the NOS guitars they had from way back.

i hope sabay at least we can compare stocks, this would mean na mas dadami ang Fender na available for choosing....and the pricing..hehe
unlike before that you can only test/see Fenders only @ the main showroom or at PP branches. all other yamahas don't really have Fenders on display.
I bet they're gonna distribute at the same time since it would only kill yupangco if they lost Fender....obviously.. :lol:
and for Fender, I think it's a good decision, at least they have a potentially WIDER market. (this is as best as I could explain...not a marketing major or anything of the approximate) :lol:

A major musical instrument retailer is about to distribute a very big and popular brand of guitars previously distributed locally by another retailer. The brand is legendary that every store wants to stock some of those brands even to the point of selling fakes just to put some class into their stores.
Sadly the retailer who now distributes it will almost certainly lose its raison d'etre!

i totally agree na maganda talaga ang pricing scheme ng audiophile kaya lang ang consequence din nito as bihira sila mag-offer ng promo (i.e., sale, installment, etc.). yun lang ang downside.

IF it's in audiophile, I remember they do give 0% if your purchase is 25K above. And since we're talking about Fenders here, then for sure we'll make the 25K up :)

haha now you know! :) But yeah, when I was putting up my recording studio here in alabang-LP, I availed of that. Funny thing at that time, kulang yung binibili ko to make it to 25 I had to look around the store to see what I could add just so I can pay in 12 months haha

vhunter is the current dealer for suhr in the philippines. Hindi ang basurang lumanog dapat sila nga magdistribute ng mang max para mas bumenta pa.

At first, I thought it was Fender (I did not dare ask from the guys at Yupangco because I think it's not right to) because: (1) I remember seeing American Fender strats in Robinson's Galleria in November 2010 but on a return visit just this February I was told that all high end Fenders are now displayed at the main showroom when I inquired why there were no Fender strats on display (2) Apparent closure (?) of the MOA branch - which is unfortunate because employee Mike is one of the most customer-friendly persons there.
However, these two developments are probably the result of the following causes: (1) high end guitars in the branches suffer some sort of mishandling or want of care from store personnel or prospective buyers who test (I am speculating and not overgeneralizing) (2) zoning issues so territories do not overlap as a marketing strategy to generate sales fairly for all branches and to make operations and expenses lean
I still believe Yupangco will still carry Fender because (1) I was assured there are shipments coming (2) On my recent visits there are new batches of guitars on display with current serial numbers (3) They renovated branches which is illogical if they are losing a major brand to distribute (4) I've read posts by forumers here who are connected to Yupangco denying such a thing

Awww........... how I miss my old Kramer. Let me share a picture of a Kramer I used to own. These pictures were sent recently by my friend from the US. He bought this guitar from me way back year 2000 I think. He bought it and migrated to the US with the guitar. It was one of the last guitars I owned before I turned away from guitar playing. Originaly the guitar was colored black but he stripped the paint off to reveal the natural wood color. Incidentaly my friend stayed in LA for about 10 years and he relocated to New Jersey. he told me the relocation was sort of a home coming for the guitar. Sa totoo lang, natataasan ako sa "Regular Price" ng JB. Pag naka sale sila, saka lang lumalapit yung price nila sa actual "online" price nung item. Imagine, pag may nakita kang 600usd guitar online na dala rin ng JB, ang regular price nun sa JB ay 45k. Tapos ang sale price nila ay nasa 32k. Ganun din. Marketing crap.

yup gibson USA daw nasa warehouse na daw nila kakarating lang daw hindi pa daw na di distribute sa mga branches. though ayaw ko parin maniwala hanggat di ko pa actual na nakikita pero them having orig epi's na eh mukhang totoo na nga wala na kong nakikitang 12k na epiphone sa lazer yung mga peke dati puro orig na at 34k for a standard plain top LP!

I heard Grover, Fred and Clarence visited the bar the Soul Brothers vocal group was playing. They DID enjoyed that whiskey. And it's not Jack Daniels!
If the whiskey is JB and they will have Fender (Leo), I'm pretty sure they'll get Jackson (Grover) and Gretsch (Fred), since they are owned by the FMC.

One of the Yupangco siblings is my friend. Ask him about their distributorship of Fender and he said they are still the exclusive. RJ is getting fender guitars from Yupangco on wholesale.that is why the price is the same. Same with TMS. That is according to my Yupangco friend. Yes JB got jackson

Dude, I don't know if you're sensationalizing things like you usually do. But if you're not, don't you think it's a bit of a dangerous thing to say? Or perhaps this was supposed to be shared to you in confidence?
For the sake of their reputation, I look forward to seeing TMS along with Yupangco and JB in Fender's list of distributors soon.

From a business standpoint, it would be help to Yupangco if other stores would capitalize and sell Fenders so they can reach quota. IMO Yupangco is STILL an exclusive dealer of Fender, only that (I suspect) TMS is getting some units from the shipments of the Yupangco stash. If the prices are the same, or at least very similar, then you can tell they're all getting from the same source.
As for JB, they've already acquired dealership for other brands that Yupangco used to carry - Pearl for instance. Notably, the pricing is not as exuberant as compared to when Pearl was being distributed by Yupangco.

matagal ng bumibili at wholesale prices ang TMS sa Yupangco, 2 yrs ago i bought a yamaha keyboard from TMS.

It has been 12 years since I made this thread and looking at it now, I had a blast reading all of it. And yes it was FMIC to JB. At the time I started this post, I got that information while O was buying a new set of strings. And now we have 2 distributors. I am happy with what happened to Fender in the Philippines. I only hope I can afford a Jazzmaster soon... Thanks for the fun and memories!
