Decent Cymbals for Recording
« on: July 26, 2006, 04:26:30 PM »
Ayos na kaya yung ZHT? On the other hand, i've heard bad reviews from ZBTs and ZXTs when it comes to recording.

But there's this cymbal pack that really sets my heart on fire...

http://www.music123.com/Zildjian-A-Custom-Cymbal-4-Pack-Matched-Set-With-Free-Bag-A20579-A20580-i243535.music

Ok kaya toh? (mapapamahal nga lang ako :( )

Need help guys. I'm not really a drummer and i honestly don't have any in depth experiences with cymbals. I'm actually building my personal DAW inch by inch to record my stuffs (jazzrock context). I've a fairly decent drumkit already except for my PLANET Zs which are total CRAP!hehe

Any words from you guys?

I'm a Zildjian freak, BTW. :D

ZHT matalas masyado, lacks 'body' for recording. somebody was selling me an 18 crash which i tried at home, no go. the sound clips from zildjian dont compare to the real thing, personally, even the real thing is a disappointment.

cant go wrong with the A customs  :D  buy buy buy!

Teka, PUA ka no?

Baka matripan mo ang K rides or A New Beat hats. Pwede ring bumili ka ng per piece, para mabili mo yung lahat ng gusto mo talaga.

Kanya-kanya ring preference naman ang sa recording, depende rin sa genre mo.

Ano ba yung PUA sir?

Naku sir, di pa nga totally ready ang pambili ko. :)

Baka isa-isahin ko nalang rin siguro para makatipid.

Thanks sir sa mga input. :D

Recording low end cymbals
« Reply #5 on: July 26, 2006, 08:31:35 PM »
Pwede din lagyan ng electric tape na strip sa ilalim ng cymbals para mabawasan ang overtone... I use scimitars lang but pag nagrerecord may strips of tape sa ilalim ng ride ko... and it sounds better in recording..

I also see this technique in other euro bands I watch on TV...

So are you saying i can get a decent drum recording with ZBTs/ZXTs by doing that? :)

Any more info regarding that? Sayang, baka makamura ako.

Para may pang GAS naman ako sa gitara (yes, i'm a guitarist :) ).

New and Second Hand Market here (dubai) just sucks. Plus instrument dealers here are a total RIP OFF!! Prices are doubled. Its so unfair.

My only option is either ebay or music123. :(

dubai pala, i give up  :D

heads up on the A custom set, i believe it comes with a medium ride and might be too weak sounding (nice for jazz stuff though). you might want to get a heavier ride too just in case it doesnt cut thru (like an A custom ping ride, avedis rock ride or k custom brilliant)
