1.change your strings regularly. old, stretched, hard to bend strings wear your frets faster. YMMV of course; depends on how hard you fret.

2.lubricate the nut regularly to reduce wear.

3. clean the hardware to prevent rust damage specially if u have very acidic sweat.

4. if you have a Floyd rose trem lubricate the knife edge.

5. if you have pups with alnico mags avoid strong magnetic fields(big speakers, TVs, etc.) near the guitar. and dont use a soldering gun. those can demagnetize the pups.

6. and of course always put ur guitar on a safe place(case) when not using it.

I'd rather be sharp than flat.

Dony play the damn thing
O Rose, Thou art sick! The invisible worm that flies in the night, In the howling storm, Has found out thy bed of crimson joy: and his dark secret love, Does thy life destroy.

throw it, ibalibag mo, ipang harabas etc etc... kapag maayos pa rin then you'll know na it will last long or else don't play ur guitar, itago mo nalang, wag ka na ring mag gitara

Can't believe people haven't seen this before.  Now I know why people didn't believe me when I said SRV intentionally used and 'abused' his guitar, altho people call it a "relic" these days and think it always needs to be some kind of delicate process.

I've actually watched this several times before but it's just as painful to watch every single time! I can't even imagine throwing my Ashley around for showmanship and some weird sounds

ang most readily available ay pencil.  preferably yung softer(B) ones. ikuskos mo lng sa nut slots.
