apart from the big pinoy rock movement in the 70s, i think the blues was at its peak in the late 80s to mid 90s.  see below...

agree ako ke phil..i think never ata nagka blues revolution and pinas.
i know binky lampano(pinsan ni esmi) was doing his stuffs then, but it never got to the point na umangat into mainstream.

although blues based sila...not sure if you can classify it as "pure" blues though..blues rock maybe in the mold of Cream and Joplin.

National anthem din yan sa mga gigs namin nung college sa UP. Last song, kumbaga "My Way" sa mga videoke... without the barilan. ;-)

amen...
lets give it time, i guess.
some hard rock guitar players usually revert to the basics.

the blues will always be there... as BB King mentioned, its the law of the land.

meron lang akong tanong medyo off to sa topic ko dito. Meron akong nabasa sa article ng guitar magazine na si Jimmy hendrix daw ay pure blues.

if by that they meant he played his soul out, yes i agree.  he can be as bluesy as any post-60s gtrst (eg, acoustic version of "Hear my train a'comin")...  but from a strict musical standpoint, we all know he did other stuff (psychedelic rock?) and actually wanted to go in a jazzier direction before he died.

i think he has a comp album called "Pure Blues"... baka ni-literal nila yun.
