i don't think there's such thing as "indie sound" or "indie" music genre.

there's "college alternative" and my personal invention "brit alternative meets sonic youth, effects laden guitar music" ... i dont think anyone would use that term though, hehehe.

what the eraserheads started was a revival of bands, they did not found it.

it was already there.

although the E-heads were just part if many bands at the time, they led the industry in recognizing bands that were not disco or did not resemble the 80's era.

so it was a revolt against spandex and cheesey boom-box dance music.

ahh....the nostalgia of un-connercialized and naice college music.

hanggang sa maghugas sila ng pinggan sa ermita, and then got hit by their egos (i suppose)

I get what you mean Brader.  When the E-heads "finally" got signed up and Ligaya hit the airwaves...

That sparked other labels to sign up the next Eheads or the at least one worthy of such income.  :-D

A lot of bands that were indeed worthy got heard, got signed up and got introduced.

siguro parang sinabi ko na din na, tunog masa-rock sila, ngayon, tunog not masa-rock sila.

ewan ko, basta alam ko nag enjoy ako nung 90's dahil sa biglang pag-putok uli ng banda sa mainstream ... i think eheads with their song PARE KO paved the way for other bands. that much credit i give to the eheads.

I first heard the eraserheads in my friend's car - tinadahan ni aling nena. Even then, I knew that OPM was on its way back. The Eraserheads really paved the way for the OPM resurgence of their time.

I have to give it to the e-heads. Their influence still lingers in the music scene until today. But of course, there are still some bands nung 90's na naging maimpluwensya per genre.  Sa hard rock, anjan ang wolfgang at iba pa so sa mga mainstream na banda siguro sila ung nauna kaya me mga sumunod na den. :mrgreen:

ely deserves a credit pero ung mga pinoy bands nung 70s & 80s ano sila mga latak??? no doubt magaling na songwriter c ely pero panigurado magsasabi rin siya na hindi siya ang dapat sisihin dapat cna pepe smith,wally G. & mike hanapol ang sisihin, anak bayan o asin, the dawn, identity crisis, wuds at lahat ng banda na nagbigay buhay sa pinoy rock

Sa tingin ko ha, at ako lang to malamang, kasi pag kayo na tumingin, hindi na ako yung tumingin nyan.

Ang sinimulan ng e-heads eh yung mainstream 'pang-masa' alternative. Hindi yung wave ng mga banda. I'd rather have The Dawn take that crown than them.

Nagpasimula lang sila ng Niche na hindi pa nasusubukan at that time and age, at talagang bago sa pandinig ng mga tao. Maari rin na sila ang nagsimula ng craze na magtayo tayo ng banda, and perform on campuses where we can be cool and whatnot.

They're songs are for the masses, it good, it bright, it alluring, its entertainment.

well... pwede rin natin i-consider yung sinabi mo na si ELY ang may kasalanan kung bakit may mga banda ngayon.... ELY and the 'HEADS influenced the new generation of PINOY BANDS (karamihan ng mga banda ngayon).... katulad mo, idol ko rin si ely. siya rin nang-impluwensya saken magbanda..

PERO mas marami pang bandang nauna sa kanya sa pinoy rock scene ang nagtatag ng eksena.

"ely is just a part of an institution and not the institution itself..."

kumbaga "kuya" lang naten siya. tapos sila pepe smith ang mga "lolo" ng pinoy rock (hindi ko sinasabing matanda na siya ha... hehe...  :-D). chaka marami ding mga underground bands noon ang napakagaling (grab a copy of rivermaya's isang ugat isang dugo for more info). anjan ang ethnic faces, silos, the wuds, the jerks, juan dela cruz band, the dawn etc. yun ang "pre-ely" generation.

malay naten, may susunod na musikerong susulpot na mala-ely buendia ang influence sa music scene...

nararamdaman ko na rin kasi na may panibagong "rebolusyon" na magaganap sa larangan ng OPM BAND SCENE....  :-D

hindi nman cguro, gaya ng sabi ng ilan jan..part cla ng scene,part lang sila ng lumalagong pagdiskubre ng musika natin dito sa pinas.  no second comings or next generation whatsoever. many years ago nadinig na natin ang tunog na yan.. LAhat ng musikeros dito s philmusic, tyo ang magsisimula ng sinasabi mong coming coming at next generation whatsoever. anu pa man... saludo p rin tyo sa Eheads.

hindi. hindi si ely. I dont even like the E-heads. Sila Pepe Smith ang tunay na nagsimula nyan. Hindi si Ely. Ginawa niya lang mainstream at mas pansinin ang Rock dito sa Pinas. After then a lot of other bands came up that may be better like the E-Heads. (Like my band. Hahahahaha! Narcissist amp.  :lol:)
