anong version ng sonar? ano ung midi interface mo? dapat naka 'highlight' ang mga midi ports sa Options > Midi Devices para maging active ang mga output ports sa track view.
Sonar 4.04PE/5.2PE/7.02PE/8.31 PE, Project 5 v2.5.1, EmulatorX 1.5, Cubase SL2, Ableton Live 7.14,  Intel Q6600 MSI P43 Neo 4Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800, Emu 1820m, Yamaha DSP Factory, Terratec DMX 6fire

sonar 4 producers ed. wala naman ako external midi devices, jst the onboard sound. epox board ko with Realtek audio...when i go to midi devices sa options hindi nya nkikita ung windows soft  synth...im thinking baka nag-hahanap ng better hardware ang sonar 4...

di ko naman masyado gnagamit midi on it...but ok sana kung gumagana siya...tnx!!

That's because you're using wdm drivers. Try using asio instead if your onboard sound supports it; for some strange reason, di supported ng wdm ung MS GS synth. For better sounds, either get a 'Blaster for soundfont support or use Sonar's TTS-1 DXi softsynth - way better than the MS synth. If you want to use soundfonts without having to buy a new soundcard, do a google of rgcaudio's sfz freeware soundfont player; just insert it as a DXi.

It wouldn't hurt if you really had better audio hardware (well... maybe your wallet...).

...if you're going to use ASIO, look for ASIO4All, stumbled upon it while trying to solve the same problem you're having, it turned out that changing the drivers from WDM to MME (or was it MNE?) would've fixed it, but it solved  another problem... latency issue with Amplitube, nawala yung delay, so if it worked for Amplitube then it must be a good driver.

ASIO4All is a WDM wrapper. It makes WDM drivers appear as asio to the host program. It also makes it difficult for you to multitrack if you intend to record more than 1 stereo track at a time. A4All also adds 11 ms delay to your signal but it doesn't report it.

MME drivers are a holdback from Win95. The latency in those is in the area of hundreds of milliseconds. Not the drivers you want to use for tracking.

Some cards work better using WDM, others prefer ASIO; most soundcards have both drivers. Some software hosts work better with one driver; Cubase works very well using asio while Sonar, in my case, uses asio because it works better with my particular soundcard. With my previous SBLive, I used kxdrivers because of better performance, but it couldn't sidestep the audio flaws of the card. In my experience, I've found asio to be more responsive; it's only a matter of finding the sweet spot for one's needs.
