Got a chance to check out a Bay Area-based shoegaze band last Sunday.  They're called Whirr.  I felt a bit bad for their gig since it was rife with technical issues.

I think their co-vocalist/guitarist Loren Rivera is Fil-Am.

I'm familiar with Moscow Olympics.  Managed to track down a distributor to snatch up a CD of Cut The World.  I think I eventually ended up getting it by mail order through Lavender Records.  Anyway, to me Moscow Olympics seems to share more qualities with The Wake, who were co-labelmates of New Order and The Happy Mondays in Factory Records in the 80s.  The whispered, low-key vocals and the pulsing bass is an uncanny similarity.

I love shoegaze, I really love it, and I want to form a band that is equally influenced by SHOEGAZE, INDIE, PUNK AND IF POSSIBLE DEATH METAL ( seryoso, may ideas na ko dito ),

who wants to try? :)

It's heavy metal fatigue.                                                                                                      Postlude.

iniisip ko mabigat na riffs sa intro taps pag verse biglang magiging ala stone roses hehe, pwede kaya? pro walang growl basta shoegaze style na vox lang ?  yung mr bungle grabe yun may orchestra pa minsan yun

Actually these days, bands have been using a mix of shoegaze, indie, and black metal. Those blast beats are super-effective to convey mood swings within a song.

Bands to suggest:  Jesu, Nachtmystium, Deafheaven (one of the members of this band is also in the shoegaze group Whirr), Alcest, and Tombs.  You can listen to what the possibilities are with those groups to start.

from those groups JEsu pa lang ang napakinggan ko, do you know of any band who has songs with clear heavy riffs and then suddenly switching to cave sounding shoegaze type ambience?

In!!  :)

Apart from post-punk and indie rock, our music's inspired by shoegaze too.  ^-^

Moscow Olympics fan here!  :-P

Looks like I'll get the chance to see this compelling documentary on shoegaze at a local film festival.
