im thinking din na most mkvs are uncompressed(video-wise and audio-wise)..so theres a possibility na pag dumaan ang uncompressed sound(malaking file size yun) eh hindi na kinakaya ng ordinary audio jack..if Darkhorse is using a pc to play his mkv files and the pc is connected to a 2.1 channel speaker system, gagana yun dahil:
1. the mkv player(softwares like klite code pack, etc) he installed on his pc has a built-in sound decoding system
or
2. his sound card has a software that would decode whatever format of sound the file has and would convert it to an output that would be supported by his speakers
ngayon, sa kaso ng pag connect ng wdtv via hdmi - kung ikakabit mo sa tv, yes gagana yun. remember that 1 hdmi cable has the capability to transfer up to 10gbs of data per second(latest spec). so if you have uncompressed mkv files na may uncompressed audio din, yakang yaka yan.sobra pa nga eh
pero pangit talaga sound quality pagdating sa tv dahil most mkv files have a default setting of 5.1 channel audio..you really need a decoder that would compress the files to something smaller..masyado kasing ma-treble yung audio..left and right channels lang naman meron ang hdtv di ba?
