Rock Band 3 - Now with real Squier Stratocaster

I know you guys have already talked about how Rock Band will never match up to playing real guitar, but this latest development throws some of those arguments out of the water!

So Rock Band 3 now utilizes either a plastic Fender Mustang, or a retro-fitted Squier Strat.

The Mustang is a small plastic replica like the old games use, but this time it has 6 strings that you have to strum instead of a plastic pedal, and on each of its frets it contains 6 buttons you need to press, and the controller would work as a MIDI guitar too!

On the other hand, they're also throwing in the option of buying a Squier Strat, which will actually work as a real guitar albeit with only one pickup and a volume knob, and the bridge doesn't look like it has a hole for a whammy bar. Its fretboard has sensors that detect which string and fret you are pressing and like the Mustang, the game can detect which strings you strum.

Of course, this is only an option for those who wish to play the new "Pro" mode in Rock Band 3...where they will actually try to teach you guitar. The gameplay would be like tablature...think of it like you practicing a song by playing along to it on Guitar Pro.

haha, interesting. I wonder what do you guys think? Would more guitarists take Rock Band seriously now? Looks like there'll be more aspiring guitarists in the world! (hopefully anyway hahA)
