Sony ACID 5.0
« on: January 23, 2008, 07:52:40 PM »
Hey. I'm new in this recording thing. I don't have enough money to buy nice hardware and software and gear so I'm just using Sony Acid 5. Just starting out. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do considering I don't have much money or nice equipment? Kahit magandang software lang or anything.

God Bless. Thanks  :-D

First, I'd start by reading Sony Acid 5.0's manual. Is this program under a freeware or shareware license by the way?
I'd rather be sharp than flat.

Edit: It's under free downloads under the site - now I'm getting it!

Acid Xpress 5.0 doesn't do midi unless you upgrade to the full version. I have it on my pc but it's one of the most unused software I've got since Sonar can do acidized loops. IMO, if you do mostly loop based music, then acid is almost a no-brainer until you get to the part of trying to do fills and chord progressions with the same loop. Hope you have an extensive loop library. One thing I had fun with Acid was doing stutter edits a la BT/Timberlake.

Well I'm only planning to just record my voice and some acoustic guitar. And maybe someday multi-track my band. Is acid good enough or can i get something better?

try the latest SONY ACID PRO. i've been a fan of this software since the beginning (actually, it was sonic foundry acid before. sony bought it). although SONAR have it, it's still easier for me to use acid in terms of loops. the latest acid both have audio and midi record capabilities, multi i/o too.

you can also try ABLETON LIVE, grab an old elvis track, morph each bar and voila!! instant old recording in PERFECT TIME, ready for remixing. be it techno elvis, hiphop elvis or disco elvis. :-D your on bro. seriously, this is another great software.

the only beef i have with acid xpress is that it forces you to loop your stuff.  if you don't mind that, then i guess it's ok since your requirement is only a few tracks.  otherwise try reaper if you don't want to spend anything, legit pa.  it works 64-bit too.

Try to program in a fill using individual hits from the same loop... hehe

Rico Bicol? Yup! Met him over at Jep's in the former PIMP location pa. Pro Tools master as I recall. Posts here once in a while too.

Do you mean amplitube? Yeah, I've been reading about problems between acid and amplitube. No solution yet, IIRC.
