Filterkeen is an alternative rock band formed in early 2009. Fusing pop, punk, funk, blues and rock, their influences include Greenday, Angels and Airwaves, Eric Clapton, Eraserheads, Redhotchillipeppers, A Perfect Circle, Blink 182 and the Beatles.
Guitarist David Perez was working on his own band while keeping a night job as a call center employee when he met drummer Venny Gonzaga Jr. who was also with a different band and part time roadtech. Both work for one of the major BPO's in Makati and quickly got to sharing song writing ideas and band woes over ciggarate breaks. When Perez had to deal with some lineup changes with his own band, he approached Gonzaga and asked him if he is interested to form a group. Gonzaga agreed and also recruited guitarist Andy Peregrino. Bassist Al Diankinay was asked by Perez to join the band during the last quarter of 2009.
Taking styles from the likes of STP, Sting, 311, Fuel, Incubus and Jeff Buckley, new main man Jerald is sure to weave a different design to the sonic tapestry of Filterkeen albeit with Venny's aggressive yet crafty beats, Al's funk infused baselines, David's lyrical riffs and Andy's soaring lead passages.
