Hi, just pulled the trigger and finally got a macbook pro, anyway usb audio interface nanaman hinahanap ko, apogee one yung plan ko bilhin but i figured id ask here first baka may mga bagong device na better value for money...

And may latency ba when monitoring while recording kung usb interfscengamit?

Kung firewire interface wala ba talaga latency pag nagmomonitor while recording ?

Sensya na kung mali yung mga terms na gamit ko, im not too savvy with audio tech jargon

Thanks

There will be always latency but it's tolerable.  Unless there's direct monitoring in which you hear unprocessed sound with no latency.

This is a myth. Aside from direct monitoring, which is only available via interfaces that use asio (not all interfaces support direct monitoring though), latency is also directly affected by your cpu. The more powerful the cpu, the lower you can go latency-wise.

Since FW interfaces do not poll the cpu as often as usb does, you could get better latency performance. What I would like to see are figures for USB3 though.

Hi, went to jb to check out the apogees, another interface caught my eye, it was the focus rite i think, searched around the web about the saffire 6 and the scarlett 8i6

would you guys recommend them? and which is better, the saffire 6 or the scarlett 8i6?

scarlett's more expensive but konte lang difference so I'm asking if the 8i6 will be a better choice?

saffire's got 1.1usb while scarlett's got usb 2  but I don't know if that matters though...

super distorted na yung lumalabas sa monitor..

what monitor are you using? your laptop specs are ok, but allow for an external drive to store your projects. since the MSI only has 1 drive, this will impact your track count greatly.

@pualux - I would prefer the Scarlet since it is usb2.

Di puede pagsabayin.  Walang rewire ang Sony Acid.  Render mo muna ang isa.

Also try using ASIO if you're using WDM.  Crackling ata yung naririnig mo.  Not distort.

you might be thinking about Rewire where you can sync something like Reason with PT or any other DAW that supports Rewire. When using asio, you can't run 2 asio driven programs at the same time. PT LE uses RTAS while Acid can use WDM or asio. In theory, you can run both simultaneously, but both will be addressing the interface at the same time and some hardware have difficulty with this, not to mention the cpu hit both programs will impose.

If you have 2 separate interfaces in your pc, you can set one to RTAS while the other uses asio or WDM. Each program can address each interface separately but you will have to 'wire' them to each other so you can hear/record their outputs. That's one reason why I can't let go of my 1820m so easily - it allows me to run WDM and asio at the same time.

good day mga sir.. bago lang ako nag-aaral bout recording
i don't have an audio interface now bout i'm planning to get
an m-audio fast track what would you guys recommend? :-)

question : how do you get rid of unwanted noise our hiss or buzz
and what is advisable, recording the guitar track with clean
tone and applying the fx later or just apply the fx the first time? :-\

thanks sa response...

Direct mo na.

You can apply plugins after recording.  Not during.  May latency sigurado.

Some usb interfaces accept instrument level inputs while most are line level only. If you use one by Line6 or M-audio, for instance, which have a clearly marked guitar/instrument level input, then you can connect bass guitars (and other guitars) directly. Some acoustics can be connected although I believe acoustics with piezo pickups may require a different form of preamp.

If the interface is line level only, a preamp is recommended. Most DI boxes output to mic level and not all usb interfaces have mic inputs.

^ this is exactly what i'm looking for..!

additional question lang po, decent po ba yung tunog kung ire-rekta ko po yung xlr out ng di box ko sa hd audio input ng pc ko?
ano po yung mas okay na output kung papunta directly sa pc? yung xlr out or yung line out po?

you will get a thin sound that easily overloads distorts in a bad way. not the good distortion guitarists are fond of.

ano po yung mas okay na output kung papunta directly sa pc? yung xlr out or yung line out po?

always LINE OUT to LINE IN please. xlrs will require a preamp.

Thanks for the quick response sir!!
Now i'm really gasing for a usb audio interface! :)

additional question po ulit..
If im using an usb audio interface, required pa po ba ako mag upgrade ng soundcard ng pc..?
Btw, for bass recording po sana to, kaya naisip ko din baka issue yung impedance and etc..
