I had to miss this one. Sayang. Besides Raul B., I've not seen the other two sax players play with the band before. Are they session players? Guests?

I could be wrong, but I think the kid's dad is the guitarist - Kedy Sanchez.  Tama ba Kedjo?

Raul needs no introduction, and if the kid is Kedy's son, who's the third guy?

Yup.  The kid is my son.  He jams regularly.  The third guy is Joby Tanjuatco, another Stiff regular.

Is that the long lost John Flores?! :)

Keds, puro Blue-Blood a--you, John, Mari, Raul... The rest I can't make out. Who's the drummer? Doesn't look like Boss Jim.

Please PM me your gig sked. I'd like to catch you guys.

Regards to the boys.

Senor, nice to hear from you.  Yup, puro blue blood yan.  The drummer is Rookie Garcia and there's Oggie Benipayo on vox.  Younger blue blood yan.

When I first heard of the drummer, I can't believe that the drummer is my dad's officemate.

It gives me the inspiration to have a (demanding) day job and play professionally (somehow.) :) Play professionally nalang kulang ko. :)

By the way, I was also here during the show. Galing! :)

Kedy, anak mo nga pala ang kasama ninyong sax player na isa! Sorry, didn't recognize him in the pic, kasi the last time I saw him with you guys, flute naman ang hawak. Besides derecho ang buhok niya eh; so who would think na mag-ama kayo?

Wow! Hehe, actually short lang, I wasn't really there all the time (so I don't really deserve all the thanks :)). The first time I've watched Working Stiff was when my dad's officemate (Rookie I guess is the name) invited us to watch... Well, my dad actually. :) (Rookie is the lawyer right?) So when I saw you guys on greenbelt, aside from the great music, I knew the band already, so I decided to stay for a few songs.

Honestly, I wished most of the music that played around the Philippines was more your style, which is much better than most bands I've seen around. Hope to see you guys more often!

Let us know when your next gig will be, if I'm free I'll be there (and I'll try to be free as possible.) :D And maybe we can talk a little (although shy type ako personally.)

More power to you guys! :)
:)

Ganun nga ang nangyari.  We rehearsed the following Monday and John was already complaining about the temp being too cold.  At Pipeline?? He wasn't in his element.  Di na nga kami nag nightcap which we usually do.  By Wednesday he was down.

Pareng John needs at least a week's bedrest according to the doctors.

Thanks for being there.  Saw you in the front row.

I have to leave before the rain poured because I was with my wife and kids. Next time ulit, hanggang sa nightcap sama ako. Or until the next Steely Dan jam.

Salamat sa plug!  Kita tayo dun.

Pero wala ako sa liga ni Senor Joey.  Nag-iisa siya sa kinalulugaran niya dun.

Nanood ako nung nakaraang Working Stiff (du'n sa dating Sueño bar @ SM City), sarap naman nung togs mo dun a, except I had to leave after second set.

Both of you have different voices, and we'd look forward at that event.

Cheers!

I have the honor of playing with the Senor sa Blue Rats these past few weeks.  Kaso blues ang tugtugan dun.  I have to say I learn something new from the man with every song he plays.  Sana makatugtog din ang Rats sa Bacolod one time.

Meanwhile, Joey has jammed with the Stiffs a couple of shows na before so we feel quite comfortable with him (though his guitar playing is still intimidating).  He is quite amiable and very friendly. Would you believe he'll be spending his Bacolod stint with fellow guitar giant Gabe Ascalon? We hadrehearsals with Joey and Henry last Saturday and I must say, it's something you really got to see!

I haven't heard the Blue Rats yet, but surely they are a great band as shown by posts here @ Philmusic. We'll have to bug Bob C. and JSN for that!

Early this year,  Ric, Henry and Balooze came over at Moravia and also put up a killer show.

I guess the Joey - Gabe connection goes back a long way, since Destiny-Harrison Livewire days. I hope Señor Gabe would be there too, but he hasn't mentioned a thing (We met last week. Gabe gave - pun, pun, pun  :-D - me a neck humbucker).   I'd say, two of the "guitar gojiras" of the Republic huh?

Something to look forward to. Hehehee..

Soli Deo Gloria.

yup finally gabe ascalon's name gets mentioned here.
i think destiny's only recording heard on dzrj am (1970's) was their jazz rock take of the standard "a taste of honey". with ritchie quirino and colby dela calzada on a tv stint on joe quirino's show. extreme trivia here.
